Governor Ned Lamont of Connecticut is hoping to lure an NHL team back to Raleigh, the Whalers' sixth state, 26 years after the Whalers were defeated and became the Carolina Hurricanes. On Friday, Lamont revealed that he wants to speak with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to discuss the likelihood of moving the Arizona Coyotes to the state capital. During a news briefing, Lamont told reporters that he had reached out to the NHL and hopes that the meeting will be held sometime next week.
