Eric Wilson Career

Musical career

Wilson and Bradley Nowell formed in 1979 and formed Hogan's Heroes, a punk band that later changed their name to Sloppy Seconds (not to be confused with the Indiana hardcore punk band of the same name). Wilson introduced Bradley Nowell to his long-time buddy Bud Gaugh in 1988, and the three of them went on to form Sublime.

Wilson briefly joined Del Noah & the Mt after the death of Sublime's lead vocalist Bradley Nowell in 1996, which disbanded Sublime. Ara Ratfinks, with whom he appeared as the stand-up bassist, appeared on stage.

Wilson and Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh, as well as many others, began to experiment with the unique Sublime sound. They later formed many Sublime-related bands, the majority of whom signed with Long Beach's independent record label Skunk Records. Long Beach Dub Allstars formed in 1997, and their first album, Right Back (DreamWorks), was released in 1999. Wonders of the World, Long Beach's second album (DreamWorks), was released in 2001. However, the band wound up just after 2002.

Wilson joined the Long Beach Dub Allstars RAS-1 lead singer Sam Carter in a band called Long Beach Shortbus. In October 2007, the band announced that they had disbanded. Wilson plays the drums in StoneWing, a psychedelic rock band that went on a 2009 tour of the Midwest and Colorado with Midwest Reggae Rockers Jon Wayne and The Pain out of Minneapolis. Wilson also appears in The STyMiES, an Iggy Pop cover band.

Wilson reuniting with Sublime at Cantina Los Tres Hombres in Sparks, Nevada, on February 28, with Bud Gaugh and new frontman and guitarist Rome Ramirez in place of Bradley Nowell. Following a positive response, the band decided to reunite properly in August 2009 for a possible tour and a new album. However, a Los Angeles judge barred the new lineup from using the Sublime name during the October 2009 edition of the Cypress Hill's Smokeout Festival, forcing the band to rename the band. As Sublime with Rome, Eric Wilson, Bud Gaugh, and Rome Ramirez's new lineup performed together as Sublime with Rome. Yours Truly, the band's debut album, was released on July 12, 2011. According to reports, Gaugh and Rome left Sublime in December 2011 to spend more time with his family. Josh Freese was brought on to tour by Josh Freese, and the band has continued to tour.

Wilson formed a new 4-piece rock band in the summer of 2019, after being active in the reggae-rock style for more than three decades. In May 2021, they released their debut single and music video for the song "Stay Clean" on their debut. The single was created by Paul Leary of the Butthole Surfers, as well as Stu Brooks from Dub Trio and Gabrial McNair of No Doubt.

Wilson's "new psychedelic" is a mix of old and new, from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, with Led Zeppelin's style vocals influencing psychedelic rock from Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin's style vocals into a modern-day sound. Daniel Lonner, Eric Sherman on guitar, Wade Youman (Unwritten Law) on Drums, and Wilson himself on bass are among the Spray Allen lineups.
