Joe Lewis, a Spurs owner, avoids prison for insider trade: The tycoon's life was interrupted by Bow Bells to the Bahamas
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 6, 2024
Lewis rather than spending his days in prison as the fraudster Bernard Madoff did, co-operate with lawyers and the court, telling Judge Jessica G. Clarke that he was'so embarrassed' by his conduct. He decided to pay nearly $50 million (£40 million) in financial fines at the end, the first insider trade settlement in over a decade. His contrition, fine, and his later years were all meant to stop an 18-month-to-two-year sentence in prison.
Sam Bankman-Fried's loyal ex-assistant brands him a lying thief who's 'misunderstood' and 'not greedy': Admits she may have Stockholm syndrome

Natalie Tien, who attended almost every day SBF's trial, was also FTX's head of PR and marketing for more than two years, and she has admitted that the condition may have left her with Stockholm syndrome. Tien said that SBF was not a money-hungry mastermind fraudster but rather a well-meaning kid who was eager to lead the company when she first started. 'Maybe because I saw a more human face of Sam, and I just felt it was watching a kid do something that was clearly wrong,' Tien told Axios. I didn't agree with either that a witness or one of the prosecutors talked about Sam as if he were a robot with no emotion or that he was ruthless.' He worked hard and was extremely polite.' "Other CEOs have preferences, like whether they want to have this hotel or this car,' Tien said. Sam was not like that. So when the prosecution said in their closing argument to the effect of: "Sam lied, he stole, he was greedy," I thought: "Lie? Yes, indeed. Steal? Yes." However, he wasn't overspending. I'm still think he wasn't in it to make himself a fortune.' A New York jury found the FTX founder's meteoric rise and fall in the cryptocurrency market, which included his testimony before Congress, a Super Bowl commercial, and hopes of running for president. Tien said it's likely she has it because she continues to vote for FTX or Sam as a person.'
