Audrey Wells (April 29, 1960 – October 4, 2018) was an American screenwriter, film editor, and producer.

Early life

Wells was born in San Francisco, California, to Austrian-American psychiatrist Wolfgang Lederer and Romanian-American psychologist Alexandra Botwin Lederer; her parents immigrated from Europe during World War II. She had Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jewish ancestry.

Career

Wells performed as a disc jockey at San Francisco's jazz radio station KJAZ FM. She graduated from the University of Central Connecticut. Berkeley and UCLA are two universities.

She produced a number of hit screenplays and directed three others for which she had written the script. Her films were mainly comedies and romance films. The Truth About Cats & Dogs (1996) and Under the Tuscan Sun (2003), two of which she also produced. At the Sundance Film Festival, her 1999 film Guinevere was named Best Screenwriting Award. Wells also co-wrote the script for the comedy The Game Plan.
