Arnaldo Antunes (Portuguese pronunciation: [arnawdu tunis]; born Arnaldo Augusto Nora Antunes Filho, September 2, 1960) is a Brazilian musician, writer, and composer. Arnaldo Antunes Career

Career with Titãs

Antunes formed Banda Performática with his then-wife in 1979. Tit's do Iêê was established in 1982, with Antunes as the founder. They debuted their self-titled debut album in 1984. Antunes left Titt's in 1992 after recording seven albums with the band due to musical differences. His resignation was announced on December 15, 1992.

After the police discovered 128 million grams of heroin in his apartment in S. Paulo in November 1985, he was arrested for heroin trafficking. The officers arrived after detaining Tit's bandmate, Tony Bellotto, who was found with 30 million pounds in a taxi after leaving Antunes' place. He was accused of trafficking because of the large number at home, but Bellotto was only charged with possession. He was put in a special cell at the precinct because the sheriff deemed it inappropriate to have him among the 90 worst robbers.

Solo career

In 1993, he released Nome, a "multimedia project associating poetry and music," starring Joo Donato, Marisa Monte, and Arto Lindsay as guest stars, as well as short computer animation films (produced in collaboration with Celia Catunda, Kiko Mistrorigo, and Zaba Moreau). The Nome video was shown in art galleries and festivals in Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Australia, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, and Germany (where it received a Jury award at the Festival International de Video Cidade de Vigo 1995) Netherlands, Monaco, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, and the United States (receiving an honorable mention at the first annual New York Video Festival).

A Curva da Cintura, a solo exhibition with Ira, is his album. In August 2012, guitarist Edgard Scandurra and Toumani Diabaté from Mali reached No. 5 in the World Music Charts Europe.

According to the Brazilian edition of Rolling Stone magazine, his album RSTUVXZ was rated as the 16th best Brazilian album of 2018.
