'Axe stamp duty on shares to boost London Stock Exchange', say UK Fintech firms

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 15, 2024
Revolut and Monzo are among a group of companies who have signed up to a list of policy demands aimed at ensuring Britain maintains its 'leading global position' in the sector. Investors pay 0.5% stamp duty on the price of UK-listed shares that they buy. But the tax does not apply to the purchase of shares in foreign companies - deterring investment in British firms.

Barclays reels as Qatar dumps £500m of shares in 'accident prone' bank

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 5, 2023
The decision by the Qatar Investment Authority, the company's largest shareholder, to sell just half of the lender's stake is likely to raise new concerns regarding the company's future ahead of a make-or-break shake-up early next year. The stock fell almost 45%, or 3.52p., to about 3.9.46p.

According to ALEX BRUMMER, Barclays board board was on the rack

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 17, 2023
Barclays has been a lightning rod for regulatory failures in its search for investment banking. And successive chairmen have found it impossible to establish the chief executive position for a variety of reasons. Regulving Barclays' door is a common feature. If honour still exists, the chairman and non-executives at Barclays should consider whether they will continue to be involved in this morally reprehensible saga much longer.
