Antoni Porowski (born March 14, 1984) is a Canadian television presenter, actor, cook, and model.
He is best known for his role as the food and wine expert on Emmy award-winning Netflix series Queer Eye.
Early life
After their two older sisters immigrated to Canada, Porowski was born in Montreal, Quebec, to Polish parents. His father is a surgeon. He learned Polish, English, and French. When he was twelve, he and his parents moved to Glade Springs, West Virginia; he worked there and in Montreal throughout his high school years before returning to Montreal to complete his post-secondary education at Marianopolis College.
Porowski obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology from Concordia University and moved to New York City to study acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, which he attended in 2011. He learned how to cook by referring to his grandmother's cooking tips.
Personal life
Ted Allen, the original Queer Eye food and wine expert and current host of the Food Network cooking competition Chopped, lived in the same neighborhood. The two became close, and Porowski spent a time as their assistant, designing and assisting the couple in putting together events and catering in their house.
Porowski claims that his sexuality is "a little more flexible across the spectrum" and he does not identify himself. Joey Krietemeyer was dated by the graphic artist for more than seven years before he announced his separation in October 2018.
Porowski and his Queer Eye costar Jonathan Van Ness created a joint Instagram account in 2019 and shared reportedly romantic photos. It was later discovered that it was in risk.

Career
Porowski began auditioning for various acting roles after moving to New York City. He has claimed that his Polish last name made it impossible for him to find work, which made him consider anglicizing his last name at the time. He has appeared in films including Elliot Loves (2012), Daddy's Boy (2016), The Pretenders (2018), and as the lead officer in a 2014 edition of TV show The Blacklist. Porowski appeared in the Vinnytsia massacre's short film To My Father in 2015 as Adam Bandrowski. The short film was released as part of the Short Film Corner at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
In the meantime, he worked in food service to pay his rent, first serving as a busboy in a family-run Polish restaurant. He began working as a waiter and sommelier, eventually opening BondSt, a sushi restaurant.
Porowski was hired as the food and wine specialist in Queer Eye's Netflix revival, which premiered in February 2018.
Porowski's first cookbook, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, was published in Spring 2019. In June 2018, he announced the opening of The Village Den, a fast-casual restaurant in New York City's West Village. In addition, Porowski sells vintage furniture.
