Early life
Richard Gutierrez was born in Beverly Hills, California, United States, with his twin brother Raymond Gutierrez to actor Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama on January 21, 1984. He has five siblings (Ruffa Gutierrez, Rocky Gutierrez, Elvis Gutierrez, Raymond Gutierrez, and Ritchie Paul Gutierrez), as well as two half-brothers (Tonton Gutierrez and Ramon Christopher Gutierrez).
Career
Gutierrez and his twin brother started behaving as a child. He has appeared in several films with his father and his brothers. He appeared on the GMA-7 show Click and Primetime series Habang Kapiling Ka with Angelika dela Cruz. He appeared in the TV fantasy series Mulawin from August 2, 2004 to March 18, 2005, where he portrayed lead character Aguiluz. The series culminated in a full-length film of the same name (Mulawin: The Movie). Since then, he has appeared in other GMA-7 shows, including Sugo, Kamandag, Codename: Asero, Zorro, Lupin, Full House, and Captain Barbell. Gutiérrez was a headliner on GMA Network's forthcoming Heavy Drama & Action Series named Makapiling Kang Muli in 2012. Gutierrez was charged with reckless negligence in 2009, following the death of his production assistant, Norman Pardo, who died in a car accident in May 2009. Gutierrez and Pardo were driving to Manila from Silang, Cavite. Gutierrez was injured, and Pardo, who was seated in the passenger seat, died on the spot.
The Court of Appeals recalled the accusation of reckless imprudence resulting in murder in August 2012. The appellate court accepted the petition brought by Pardo's widow, seeking the nullification of the two resolutions issued by former justice secretaries Agnes Devanadera and Alberto Agra, respectively. "To the mind of this court, if indeed the private respondent was not driving fast, it would have been straightforward for him to pull his car out of the thwart any untoward occurrence," the appellate court said.
