Anne Rogers Career

Career

Anne Rogers was born in Liverpool and began her stage career at the age of 15. She appeared in The Boy Friend's first London production, and Polly Browne was the female lead of Polly Browne for almost four years.

She was unable to participate in the Broadway production of The Boy Friend because of London commitments, but she returned to the United States to play Eliza Doolittle in the My Fair Lady's Hollywood and Chicago productions, winning the Sarah Siddons Award for her role. After two years in London, she returned to the Theatre Royal for three years (Drury Lane). She appeared in "Half a Sixpence" and "42nd Street" on Broadway. [1] The Telegraph welcomed her back as a "marvelous old trouper" when she appeared Jessie Matthews in "Over My Shoulder" in the West End in 2000. In 2005, she appeared as Gladys in the gala New York premiere of the musical Busker Alley, alongside Jim Dale, Glenn Close, and George S. Irving.
