Personal life
Wolfe was born in Austin, Texas, and moved to Oberlin, Louisiana, where she spent the majority of her childhood. She and her two children and one son returned to Austin in 1996. She met her 'Pops' Billingsley,' after being homeless and working on construction. She competed for RPM Promotions as an amateur under Billingsley's tutelage and became a RPM Promotions specialist.
Amateur career
Wolfe was ranked 3-1 as an amateur boxer and represented the United States National Championships in 1998. She won a decision over Tami Hendrickson of Seattle by 50-39, then went on to stop Shanie Keelean of Chicago within 46 seconds of the first round. In the semifinals, Wolfe defeated La'Kiea Coffen by a disqualification at 1:23 of the third round.
Professional career
Wolfe won by a four-round decision over Brenda Lee Bell on her debut in professional sports. She was knocked out in three rounds by veteran and future world champion Valerie Mahfood, her first and only career setback.
Wolfe won her first world title, the IFBA Jr. Middleweight Championship, after beating Vienna Williams in a ten-round draw. She won the vacant WIBA Light Middleweight championship by beating Gina Nicholas by knocking out in three out in three. She then went on to defeat Shirvelle Williams by knocking out in one round of a non-title match.
She moved to the vacant IFBA world Super Middleweight title next, beating Marsha Valley in six rounds. Wolfe defeated Valley once more, this time in the WIBC's version of the tournament, and she and Valley fought again, with Wolfe winning in round ten.
Wolfe retaliated against Mahfood by winning the NABA World Super Middleweight Championship from her in a ten-round decision.
By winning the IBA world Light Heavyweight championship and former NCAA basketball player Vonda Ward at one minute and eight seconds of Round One, Wolfe tied Henry Armstrong's record of three world titles at the same time in different weight classes. Ward developed neck pains after striking the canvas with her neck when she collapsed. Due to injury to her neck and head, she was admitted to the hospital in serious condition. The fight was nationally broadcast, with television commentators referring to it as the "best knockout punch in a women's boxing history."
Wolfe won by a sixth-round knockout in a rematch with Valley.
Wolfe defeated Monica Nunez in a seventh-round knockout in Lula, Mississippi, on July 19, 2005.
She fought and defeated Valerie Mahfood for the second time on August 20, 2005, defeating him in a ten-round decision on August 20, 2005.
Wolfe last battle in 2006, knocking out Cassandra Giger and decisioning Lisa Ested. She has since worked as a boxing coach.
