Anil Ambani Life

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani (born 4 June 1959) is an Indian businessman.

He is the chairman of Reliance Group (also known as Reliance ADA Group), which was established in July 2006 following Reliance Industries Limited's demise.

He is the CEO of a number of stock-listed companies, including Reliance Capital, Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power, and Reliance Communications.

As of July 2019, Ambani's key business interests in entertainment include 44 FM radio stations, national DTH promotion, animation studios, and several multiplex cinemas around India.

Anil Ambani took over Reliance Group's destiny in telecom, entertainment, financial services, power, and infrastructure after his father's death in 2002.

Ambani is also acknowledged for India's largest IPO, Reliance Power, which in 2008 was subscribed in less than 60 seconds, the fastest in the history of Indian capital markets to date.

Reliance MediaWorks, a division of Steven Spielberg's production company DreamWorks, brought Ambani's entertainment market to a global stage in 2008.

He has worked on a number of Spielberg films, including the Academy Award-winning Lincoln.

Life and education

Anil Ambani is the younger son of Reliance Industries, Dhirubhai Ambani, and his partner, Kokilaben. Ambani has stated that his father will lead the boys on "incentive-oriented outings" where they will be rewarded a box of mangoes for a 10-mile (6 mile) hike while also being disciplined for being out in front of visitors. In 1983, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Kishinchand Chellaram College and obtained a Master in Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

Personal life

Ambani is a member of the Gujarati community. He is married to Indian actress Tina Munim and the two children, Jai Anmol Ambani and Jai Anshul Ambani, have two sons. Ambani is Mukesh Ambani's younger brother, and she has two sisters, Nina Ambani Kothari and Dipti Ambani Salgaocar.

Anil Ambani Career

Business career

Dhirubhai, Ambani's father, died in 2002 without leaving a concrete succession plan. Their mother Kokilaben mediated and split the family-owned enterprises between the two brothers after bickering between Anil and his brother Mukesh.

Anil Ambani acquired Reliance Group interests in telecom, entertainment, financial services, energy, and infrastructure. Ambani is also listed as the first IPO in India, Reliance Power, which was subscribed in less than 60 seconds in 2008, the fastest ever recorded in Indian capital markets to date.

Ambani made his debut in the entertainment market in 2005 with the acquisition of a majority interest in Adlabs Films, a film processing, exhibition, and digital cinema firm. In 2009, Reliance MediaWorks was renamed. Ambani's entertainment company DreamWorks, Steven Spielberg's production company, expanded the entertainment market in 2008 to a global audience. He has worked on a number of Spielberg films, including the Academy Award-winning Lincoln.

With the combined market cap down by 90 percent since the Reliance ADA Group was established, Ambani earned notoriety as one of the fastest destroyers of shareholder value in the last 100 years.

A court in Mumbai sentenced Ambani in criminal contempt for failing to pay a monetary deposit Reliance Communications owes to Swedish gear manufacturer Ericsson in early 2019. Instead of jail time, the judge gave him a month to come up with the funds. Ambani was bailed out by his elder brother, Mukesh Ambani, at the end of the month.

After achieving NCD default in April 2019, three ADAG Companies reached a standstill deal with Franklin Templeton. SEBI amended mutual fund law lowering unlisted NCD exposure to 10% and making the standstill agreement null. FT India didn't sell the pledged securities and wound 6 debt funds that affected 300,000 investors in the aftermath.

Anil Ambani and three Chinese banks were locked in a legal dispute in February 2020. After considering his debts, he was compelled to set aside US$100 million by the court, which led him to make the claim that his net worth is now zero. With the UK court ordering him to pay the 3 Chinese banks to the tune of US$716 million, the conflict is also ongoing.

Anil Ambani and his brother Mukesh were published in the Pandora Papers in October 2021.
