Andrew Thomas Career

High school career

Thomas attended Pace Academy in Atlanta. Thomas played at the Army All-American Game throughout his high school career. On July 10, 2016, he pledged to Georgia over Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and others.

College career

Thomas started every game at right tackle during his true freshman season, earning him the coveted Freshman All-American award after the season came to an end. For his sophomore season, Thomas switched to left tackle. When he hurt his left ankle playing South Carolina, he did not play the following game against Middle Tennessee. Thomas played his way back to full participation in the next two games, though he was forced to wear a brace after re-injuring the ankle later this season. Thomas was named the SEC offensive lineman of the week after helping to prepare 331 yards against Kentucky. He was voted a first-team All American and to the first-team All-SEC after the season.

Following his sophomore season, Thomas was also admitted to the NCAA Elite Football Synopsium in the winter; the program helps athletes prepare for the change from college to football. Thomas was projected as a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft if he left Georgia after his junior year, ahead of his junior season. Thomas said on December 17, 2019 that he will forego his senior years and join the 2020 NFL Draft, thus also missing the 2020 Sugar Bowl.

Professional career

Thomas was selected by the New York Giants with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Thomas started left tackle for the first five weeks of his rookie season. Thomas was suspended for his Week 6 match against Washington because he arrived late for a team meeting. He spent the remainder of the season as a left tackle.

Thomas was the Giants' starting left tackle in the 2021 season in the 2021 season. In Week 6 he sustained an ankle injury and was placed on injured reserve on October 19, 2021. Thomas was activated from the wounded reserve on November 22, 2021. Thomas scored his first touchdown in career, as a two-yard thrower, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Thomas underwent surgery in February 2022 to fix the same left ankle that had been injured earlier this season.
