He was late in his senior year and missed a break that required season ending surgery, which was televised on ESPN. Mr. Georgia Football by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta's senior season, as well as a first-team all-state. Fields was also a standout baseball player for Harrison High in addition to football.

Justin Fields Career

College career

Fields served as the backup to starting quarterback Jake Fromm during Georgia's true freshman season. Fields made his debut in Georgia's season opener against Austin Peay in the second quarter and began in the second half. He made seven of eight passes on the day, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to Isaac Nauta in the 45–0 win. In the 38-12 victory, he had five carries for 45 passing yards and two rushing touchdowns against Tennessee on September 29. In a late-season 66–27 victory over UMass, Fields threw two touchdowns passes and ran for another on the ground, ending with 121 passing yards and 100 passing yards.

Fields saw action in 12 games, totaling 328 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, 266 rushing yards, and four touchdowns. Fields revealed his intention to transfer to Ohio State following Georgia's loss to Alabama in the 2018 SEC Championship Game.

Fields, who would normally be required to wait for one year due to NCAA transfer rules, wanted a waiver to play immediately for Ohio State. Fields recruited attorney Thomas Mars, who helped secure immediate permission for several transfers from Ole Miss in 2018, including quarterback Shea Patterson. Fields should be given a waiver for immediate eligibility, according to Mars and Fields, who said that Fields should be given a waiver for athletics with "documented mitigating facts that are outside the student athlete's influence and directly impact the student-athlete's health, safety, and well-being of the student athlete." Fields was subjected to an incident in Georgia, in which a Bulldogs baseball player used a racial insult against Fields. This was thought to be the most significant incident underlying Fields' assertion of "mitigating circumstances," although the full contents of the waiver request were never revealed. Fields was granted immediate permission for the 2019 season by the NCAA on February 8, 2019.

In Fields' first season with the Buckeyes, he helped lead the team to a Big Ten Championship victory over Wisconsin and a spot in the College Football Playoff. Fields finished third in voting for the Heisman Trophy, and first-team all-conference champion. In the 29-23 loss in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Clemson, he had 320 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He finished the season with 3,273 passing yards, 41 passing touchdowns, and three interceptions, as well as three interceptions.

Fields is regarded as a leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy in the 2020 season. After initially canceling the season, the season was played in the midst of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, with the Big Ten Conference eventually opting for a reduced conference-only schedule. Fields had been vocal in his favor of playing the season, and he started an online petition that attracted over 320,000 signatures in favor of the goal.

With a 22–10 victory over Northwestern, the Buckeyes cruised to another undefeated regular season and Big Ten Championship. Ohio State has earned a second shot at the College Football Playoff, playing a rematch against Clemson. In the rematch, Ohio State defeated a 28-30 victory, with Fields throwing 385 passing yards and six touchdowns. Fields took a hard blow to the midsection of the game and played through the injury in a show that Sports Illustrated dubbed "legendary." The Buckeyes qualified to the College Football Playoff National Championship, where they lost to Alabama, 52–24. With 2,100 passing yards, 22 passing touchdowns, six interceptions, six interceptions, and five touchdowns on the ground, the field ended the short season in 2020. He was named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Year and a unanimous first-team all-conference player. Fields, 20,2021, Fields, announced on January 18, 2021, that he would miss his final two years of eligibility to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.

Professional career

Fields was ranked 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, who traded up with the New York Giants in exchange for the 20th overall pick, their fifth-round pick, and their first and fourth-round picks in 2022. Fields, a top quarterback draft pick, was one of five players selected in the first round. On June 10, 2021, he signed his four-year rookie deal, which is fully guaranteed, worth $18.8 million.

Despite the fact that Fields was dubbed the second-string quarterback behind Andy Dalton in the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, he made his NFL debut against the Los Angeles Rams on four plays. In the 14-34 loss, he scored a five-yard touchdown and added two passes for ten yards. Fields got the game in the third quarter after Dalton sustained a knee injury during a Week 2 match against the Cincinnati Bengals. As the Bears defeated 20-17, Fields completed six of 13 passes for 60 yards and one interception, while still rushing for 31 yards. In the following week's matchup against the Cleveland Browns, Dalton was the starter despite being sidelined by his injury. He was fired nine times, four and a half of which were delivered by defensive end Myles Garrett, while finishing six of 20 passes for 68 yards on his debut. The Bears, who had 47 yards on offense, lost 6–26.

In a 24–14 victory over the Detroit Lions, Fields got his first appearance in his career in his first appearance. He completed 11 of 17 passes for 209 yards and had one interception off a deflected pass. Fields was the starter for the remainder of the season after the Bears defeated the Las Vegas Browners 20–9 in Week 5, completing 12 of 20 passes for 111 and throwing his first touchdown pass to tight end Jesper Horsted. The Bears lost 3–38 in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fields had five turnovers, three interceptions, and two lost fumbles. Fields played his first 100-yard rushing game against the San Francisco 49ers this week, throwing for 175 yards and a touchdown while still scoring a rushing touchdown. Nonetheless, the game was decided in a 22-33 loss, with Fields throwing an intercept on the Bears' final drive. Fields threw for a career-high 291 yards in the fourth quarter, but the Steelers won 27–29, despite rallying to give the Bears a 27-26 lead.

Fields left the game early in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens due to a rib injury. In the 13–16 loss, Dalton was recalled. Fields had multiple fractured ribs, causing him to miss the Bears' next two matchups after the game. He returned to the Green Bay Packers in Week 14 after losing to the Minnesota Vikings the following week, but he was out for another two games due to an ankle injury. Fields tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the season's finale, making the Week 15 game the last game of his rookie year. At 420, he finished fifth in quarterback rushing yards, the most among rookies, but he had the third-most intercepted fumbles at 12 and fifth-most lost fumbles at five.

In the 2022 season opener, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the San Francisco 49ers 19-20, with 8 of 17 passes for 121 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Fields had 11 passes for 174 yards, scrambled for 52 yards, and lost a fumble as the Bears defeated the New York Giants in Week 4.

Caleb Williams, the Bears' first pick in the NFL Draft, is a big favorite to be selected first by the Bears, but league insiders tell Mail Sport that another Heisman winner gets rave reviews

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 29, 2024
Caleb Williams' name has appeared in 2024 NFL mock drafts since his Heisman-winning campaign in 2022. Not even his poor 8-5 record at Southern California in 2023 could damage his reputation as the best in the class this year. Rather, Williams has gone from a 550 favorite to a top pick on April 25 to something bordering on a complete lock. The Chicago Bears seem to be steadfast in their search for a quarterback first overall. Not only did the team trade starter Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this month, but Bears general manager Ryan Poles decided against practicing for Louisiana State's Jayden Daniels and North Carolina's Drake Maye, but not only that.

As the projected No. 1 pick visits the former school ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, Caleb Williams dances in the stands while watching USC reach the March Madness Sweet 161

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 26, 2024
Caleb Williams, the former quarterback of the United States Central Coast, was seen dancing in the stands ahead of the NFL Draft in April as he watched his alma mater's women's basketball team compete in March Madness. In the second round of the NCAA Tournament at home in Los Angeles, the women's basketball Trojans were competing against Kansas. Williams appeared on the ESPN telecast and was seen on the official women's March Madness website, but was not taken down by the official women's March Madness account.

Russell Wilson in 'pole position' to start over Justin Fields says Steelers coach Mike Tomlin - but says ex-Bears QB 'will be given an opportunity' to make the position is own in preseason

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 25, 2024
After being told by the Denver Broncos that they were terminating his deal after two uneventful seasons, Pittsburgh signed the veteran Wilson to a one-year contract earlier this month. Fields, who is entering his fourth year in a career started in Chicago on March 16, they acquired Fields, who is now in his fourth year, in a trade from Chicago days later. Wilson's experience makes him the favored starter at the AFC coaches' breakfast on Monday, allowing the rising star in Fields to learn from his senior. 'Russell has those strengths, man, that system, and so that's why I say he has pole position, man,' Tomlin said. I just created a synergy that I think is right for this time of year.'
