Álvaro Negredo Career

Club career

Negredo, a born in Madrid, began his playing career at Rayo Vallecano, making his professional debut with the club in Segunda División B. Real Madrid Castilla, the country's capital, migrated to another side in the middle of the year.

Neglecto made a name for himself in his last season, scoring 18 league goals, but Castilla's demise from Segunda División was not prevented. He did manage to please first-team coach Fabio Capello and was called up for a few games in the Copa del Rey, but not as a replacement.

Nego was sold to UD Almera in July 2007, with Real Madrid having the opportunity to buy him back. In a 3–0 victory over Deportivo de La Corua on August 26, he made his top flight debut on his debut in a 3–0 surprise victory. He scored from the penalty spot in a 2–0 home win against his former team on February 2, 2008, and in a 4–1 home victory over Sevilla FC, the UEFA Cup and Spanish Cup winners.

Nego ended the season as Almera's top scorer with 13 goals, finishing eighth, as the Andalusian team finished eighth. He scored five goals in the team's first six matches, including a 95th-minute winner against neighbour Recognizo de Huelva (1–0) on September 28th. In a 3–2 away loss, he scored twice against Valencia CF, bringing his league total number to ten and finishing with 19.

Real Madrid used a reported €5 million on Negligo in June 2009, and the player returned to training with the club on July 10th. In the pre-season, he scored his fourth goal against LDU Quito in a 4–2 victory for the Peace Cup.

Negredo had been rumored to join Real Zaragoza or Hull City, but instead agreed to a five-year contract with Sevilla for €15 million, with Real Madrid having the ability to buy the player back in the first two years. Manuel Pellegrini could not promise him first-team football with the likes of Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Hiagar, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Cristiano Ronaldo;st. His advisers later advised him to leave and join Sevilla in order to fulfill his potential; Negredo later expressed his admiration for Pellegrini's honesty.

Nego made his Sevilla debut on August 30, 2009, as a replacement in Valencia's 5th minute. In a 2–0 away victory over CA Osasuna, two weeks later, he scored his first goal against CA Osasuna.

Negredo's first year as a starter in 2009–10, with Luis Fabiano and Frédéric Kanouté fighting for the other striker's berth. He had suffered a scoring drought that lasted (in the league alone) 12 games, but his two goals came from penalties in a 3–1 home victory over Atlético Madrid on May 2nd (he had already lost his starting position at the time), but the Malian was suspended for the game). In the UEFA Champions League, he scored one more in the following match, a 5–1 away rout of Racing de Santander out of a total of 11 points in the league. He was suspended three times during the season, the last of which almost barred him from participating in the domestic cup final against Atlético Madrid after insulting the assistant referee during Sevilla's 3–2 victory over Carlos Peso; the suspension was lifted and he was allowed to play – Fabiano was out of action due to injury.

Nego was a regular first choice in the 2010–11 season, scoring 26 times in all competitions, 20 in the league, and 20 in the league (Fabiano also returned to So Paulo FC in March 2011. Two goals each against Villarreal CF (3–3 away draw in the cup), Deportivo (3–3 home draw), Real Madrid (6–2 home loss), and RCD Espanyol (3–2 away win) were among the highlights of the game.

Negredo boosted his 2012-13 league total to 13 on March 4, 2013 after scoring a hat-trick in a 4–1 home victory over RC Celta de Vigo. On the last day of the season, he scored all of his team's goals, defeating Valencia CF 5-0, clinching the Zarra Trophy in the process.

Negligo signed a loan agreement with Valencia on September 1, 2014, which included an obligatory purchase clause, requiring the club to purchase his rights at the end of the campaign for a sum estimated to be around €27 million. In his first competitive appearance in his debut on December 7, he scored his first goal in his first appearance, against Granada CF. It was also his first appearance.

Negredo joined Valencia on a permanent basis on July 1, 2015. He helped his team advance to the Champions League group phase by scoring in the fourth minute of an eventual 2–1 loss at AS Monaco FC (4–3 on aggregate).

Nego was practically excluded in October 2015 after criticizing boss Nuno Esprito Santo's pick of tactics. He returned to action under new manager Gary Neville, with three goals in a 4–0 home win over Granada in the domestic cup.

Negredo joined Middlesbrough on loan on July 20, 2016. In his first appearance in a 1-1 home draw against Stoke City, he scored in his first appearance, putting the hosts ahead.

Negredo signed Beşu Lig side Beşiktaş J.K. on a three-year contract on August 3, 2017. On October 28, he scored his first goal for his new team, helping them beat Alanyaspor 2–1. Due to Cenk Tosun's strong form in the first weeks, he struggled to establish his spot in the starting eleven.

Negredo was a replacement and scored a last-minute winner in a 2–1 away loss of LASK in the Europa League third round, advancing the Black Eagles to the play-off round after a 2–2 aggregate rule. He toasted by taking off his shirt and receiving his second yellow card for the extravagant celebration.

On September 18, Beşiktaş and Negredo mutually ended their employment. The club's financial difficulties were cited as the reason for the player's demise later.

Negredo signed for Al-Nasr SC on a two-year deal on September 18, 2018. His first appearance in the UAE Pro-League came three days later, but he missed a penalty early against Al Ain FC, who lost 3–0 home.

Nego scored in the first minute of the UAE League Cup against Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai FC on January 17, 2020, earning his team's second title in the competition after winning by 2–1 victory.

Negredo returned to his homeland in July 2020, with the 34-year-old signing to a one-year contract with Cádiz CF, who had just recovered to the top division from the top division. In his second appearance, he scored in his second appearance, leading to a 2–0 away victory over SD Huesca. He continued his work until the end of the season, making the team's best bet, as the team quickly managed to prevent relegation, which will immediately renew his contract until June 2022.

International career

Negredo received his first call from the Spain senior team against Armenia on October 10th, following David Villa and Daniel Güiza's illness. He made his debut in that game, bringing Fernando Torres to the second half of an eventual 2–1 away win.

Negredo kicked twice and scored twice in another away game against Bosnia and Herzegovina (5–2 win), as Spain eventually defeated all ten group matches. He was, however, disqualified for the final stages of South Africa, with the national team winning the tournament.

Neglecto was picked by boss Vicente del Bosque for his UEFA Euro 2012 squad. He appeared in the tournament in Poland and Ukraine twice, with one appearance against Portugal in the semi-finals (4–2 penalty shootout victory, 0–0 after 120 minutes).

Nego was one of seven players cut from Spain's final squad for the 2014 World Cup, alongside city colleague Navas.
