Steve Mandanda Mpidi (French pronunciation: [stv mda]; born 28 March 1985) is a French professional footballer who plays for Rennes and the France national team as a goalkeeper.
Mandanda spent the majority of his career with Marseille, appearing in over 600 games in two spells with the club, and was named Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year five times.

Club career
Mandanda was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (then Zaire), but he and his family immigrated to Évreux, France, when he was two years old. Before joining the local team ALM Évreux at age nine, he trained in boxing.
Mandanda made his league debut for Le Havre in August 2005 and didn't give up a point until his fourth match. He appeared in 30 league matches in the 2005–06 season and 37 in 2006–07, attracting the attention of other clubs. He joined Marseille in summer 2007 after an unsuccessful trial at Aston Villa prior to the 2007-08 season.
Mandanda was regarded as an understudy to first choice keeper Cédric Carrasso from the start of his first season with Marseille. Carrasso's knee injury did not prevent Carrasso from being out for six months, allowing Mandanda to take the lead in Ligue 1, Champions League, and UEFA Cup matches. Mandanda joined Marseille on a permanent four-year contract on March 5, 2008.
He was named Player of the Season by Mandanda at the end of the club's last season. It was the second time he had been honoured for the second time after winning the award in 2007-08 and 2008.

On February 5, 2008, he was in a friendly match with France B against Congo DR, in which he was suspended at halftime and his younger brother Parfait came on for Congo. In a 2–0 win over Ecuador in a Euro 2008 warm-up friendly, he made his international debut on May 27th and was named as the third-choice goalkeeper in the French squad for the tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
He began his 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign as France's first-choice goalkeeper, making his competitive international debut against Austria on September 6, 2008. However, Raymond Domenech's choice of Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper Hugo Lloris over him for the international starting eleven was changed in the summer of 2009. Mandanda was a member of France's World Cup team but did not appear in any of the country's three matches.
