After it emerged that the steamy show's writer is married to the station's head of drama, a controversy over a middle-class swinger thriller The Couple Next Door broke out over Channel 4 nepotism row

David Allison (top right) wrote the Couple Next Door, and was announced as a gift by drama boss Caroline Hollick, (bottom right) who is also his wife. After producers announced the connection between Mr Allison and Ms Hollick last week, industry insiders said the show had become a 'talking point' in the British drama community. However, the network has denied the charges of nepotism, stating that Ms Hollick had'recused herself' from the program and was "not involved in decision-making for the series." The Couple Next Door (cast Alfred Enoch, Eleanor Tomlinson, Jessica De Gouw, and Sam Heughan, pictured on left) premiered on Channel 4 last week, drawing a 1 million viewers in overnight.
