Alexis Ajinca Career

Professional career

Ajinça played for Pau-Orthez and Hyères-Toulon between 2006 and 2008. He was a member of France's INSEP.

The Charlotte Bobcats selected Ajinça with the 20th overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. He spent time with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League during his rookie season. He spent time with the Maine Red Claws during his second season with Charlotte.

Ajinça was traded with the Dallas Mavericks on July 13, 2010 in exchange for Erick Dampier, Eduardo Nájera, Matt Carroll.

Ajinça was sold by the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Georgios Printezis' draft rights.

Ajinça joined Paris-Levallois on November 2nd, 2011 for a one-week tryout. He joined Hyères-Toulon on November 8 and returned to the team two days later. He appeared in only two games with Hyères-Toulon before being kicked out of the team.

Ajinça returned to France and signed with SIG Strasbourg on December 29, 2011, despite failing to return to the NBA following the lockout. He re-signed with Strasbourg for the 2012–13 season on August 13, 2012. He re-signed with Strasbourg for the 2013–14 season on August 6, 2013. He left Strasbourg on December 18, 2013 to return to the NBA.

Ajinça was signed by the New Orleans Pelicans on December 20, 2013. He rejoined the Pelicans on July 9, 2015. In a 110-102 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on April 8, 2016, he set career highs with 28 points and 15 rebounds.

Ajinça was out for the remainder of the season after suffering from right patellar tendon surgery, a condition that typically takes four to six months to recover.

In exchange for Wesley Johnson, Ajinça was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers on October 15, 2018. He was waived by the Clippers right away when they were first drafted.

Ajinça returned to France on December 28, 2018 and signed with ASVEL Basket.

National team career

Ajinça represented France's national team at EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia in September 2013. He had 9.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
