Frank Ntilikina Life

Frank Bryan Ntilikina ( ni-LEE-kin-?

Born 28 July 1998), he is a Belgian-born French professional basketball player for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He was drafted by the Knicks as the eighth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft.

Ntilikina was born in Belgium and grew up in Strasbourg, France.

He stands 6 foot (41.6 cm) tall and holds the position of point guard.

Early life

Ntilikina was born in Ixelles, Belgium, on July 28, 1998, to Rwandan parents, who migrated to Strasbourg, France at the age of three. He started his youth club career at the age of five, playing for St-Joseph Strasbourg, before transferring to Strasbourg, IG's youth academy, which was 15 years old.

In April 2014, Ntilikina was invited to play in the Jordan Brand Classic International Game, scoring six points, three rebounds, and one assist in 23 minutes off the bench, and SIG helped SIG win the French Youth League Championship Championship in 2014.

During the 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend, he attended "Basketball Without Borders Global Camp" in Toronto, Canada.

Frank Ntilikina Career

Professional career

Ntilikina signed a professional deal with SIG Strasbourg in December 2015 until June 30, 2019. In a French LNB Pro A 2014-15 season match against Boulogne-sur-Mer, he had made his debut at the professional level even before the deal, receiving 15 minutes of action on April 4, 2015.

Ntilikina played in his first EuroLeague minutes against KK Crvena zvezda on October 15, 2015, scoring one point in 12 minutes and 16 seconds of play.

During the 2015–16 Pro A season, he appeared in 32 games, scoring 1.2 points per game, and was named the league's Best Young Player. Ntilikina played a key role in the Strasbourg team in the 2016-2017 season, clocking 19.3 minutes per game. His good work culminated in him winning his second straight Pro A Best Young Player award.

In April 2017, Ntilikina entered his name into the 2017 NBA draft. He was one of just ten international underclassmen to remain in the NBA draft by the end of the year by the NBA draft's entry deadline, June 12th. On draft night, Ntilikina was one of 20 people invited for the green room. Before the draft, Ntilikina participated in Game 4 of the LNB Pro A Finals with SIG Strasbourg before heading to Brooklyn, New York, to participate in the draft personally. He played his last game with SIG Strasbourg, losing the LNB Pro A Finals to Élan Chalon on Friday night.

There was a lot of rumors that the Dallas Mavericks would select Ntilikina with the ninth overall pick during the draft. Mark Cuban, the Mavericks' owner, was quoted as saying that the Mavericks needed a "pass-first guard" and that "we might have a little more for a project." Both of which Ntilikina paid the bill. The Mavericks selected point guard Dennis Smith Jr. when the Knicks finished picking Ntilikina with the eighth pick.

The Knicks' front office and coaching staff were also believed to be coveted by the Ntilikina, who he met in person.

The New York Knicks had the eighth pick in the 2017 NBA draft on June 22, 2017. On July 5, Ntilikina signed with the Knicks. During his rookie year, he was the second youngest active player in the NBA, behind Ike Anigbogu. In a 105–84 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 19, Ntilikina made his NBA debut on October 19, 2017. In a 107-86 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on October 28th, he scored his first points against the Brooklyn Nets on October 28. During the Knicks' home opener, he had nine points, two rebounds, five assists, and a steal. In a 119-104 win over the Brooklyn Nets on January 15, 2018, Ntilikina scored his first double-double with ten points, ten assists, seven boards, two blocks, and a steal. During the 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend, he was selected to represent Team World in the Rising Stars Challenge on January 24th. Many people were underwhelming during his rookie season in New York, and it was often thought to be a draft bust.

In his second season, Ntilkina was limited to 43 games due to injuries.

Ntilikina was coming off a good showing in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in his third season. In the beginning of the season, Ntilikina took over starting point guard duties and began to show strong signs of defense. In a 111–104 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, Ntilikina racked up six steals in a 111–104 loss. However, he had trouble shooting the ball in previous seasons, and Elfrid Payton was eventually suspended in favour of Elfrid Payton.

Ntilikina joined the Dallas Mavericks on September 16, 2021. In an 87–113 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on October 21, he made his debut on October 2121, playing four minutes.

National team career

On en route to win the 2014 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship with the Under-16 French National Team, Ntilikina averaged 7.4 points, 2.0 assists, 1.6 rebounds, and one steal per game.

In the championship game against the Under-18 Lithuanian team, he was instrumental in assisting France's Under-18 national team win the 2016 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, scoring 31 points, including 7-for-10 from three-point range, in the Under-18 national championships. He played 15.2 points, 4.5 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.2 steals in a tournament, draining 56% of his field goal attempts, with 58.6% of his shots from long distance winnings.

At the FIBA European Under-18 All-Star Game in September 2015, Ntilikina dished out a game-high eight assists to go along with 13 points and four rebounds.

In the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, Ntilikina helped France win a bronze medal.

Madison Square Garden is restored to its glory days by Knicks and Rangers

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 12, 2023
It's called The World's Most Popular Arena, but Madison Square Garden has been more renowned than ever in the 21st century, a place where celebrity athletes routinely fail to impress, and teaching careers go to die. The Manhattan arena's tenants haven't even sniffed a title this millennium, despite the New York Rangers' Stanley Cup Finals loss in 2014. Although New York has had some success on the track, the hardwood has been much crueler, as the Knicks have won only three playoff series since being in the NBA Finals in 1999. But now, with the support of some new blood, the Knicks and Rangers are giving irritated fans a reason to be excited about visiting Madison Square Garden for the first time in years.

And though Joel Embiid recently became an American citizen, France still needs him to play for them

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 7, 2022
Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers' center, has never played for a national team in his career. Embiid was born in Cameroon and became an American citizen just recently after playing stateside since he was 16 years old. With the Paris Olympics coming up in two years, the host country wants to make a splash and nab as many gold medals as they can. Evan Fournier of the New York Knicks, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot of the Atlanta Hawks, Theo Maledon of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves are all among France's national team members. Frank Ntilikina and Nicolas Batum have been deployed before. Victor Wembanyama, the upcoming NBA draft pick, will likely be available by the time the games roll around.
