Early life

Vega was born in Miami, Florida. She spent part of her childhood in Ocala, Florida.

Baruch Vega, her father, is a Colombian fashion photographer and student advisor for the Central Intelligence Agency, and her mother, Gina Rue, is a former model.

Vega has six children, including actress Makenzie Vega. When she was four years old, she and her family migrated to California. She was homeschooled as a child.

Personal life

In a ceremony held in Lead, South Dakota, Vega married film director Sean Covel on October 10, 2010. Robert Rodriguez led her down the aisle. Vega revealed on Twitter in July 2012 that she had divorced Covel.

PenaVega is a Christian, and she has said that her faith is the most significant thing in her life. At Nikki Reed's wedding to Paul McDonald, Vega was the maid of honor.

Vega became engaged to former Big Time Rush actor Carlos Pena Jr., who had been dating since late 2012. PenaVega became the couple's married name when they married in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on January 4, 2014. La Vida PenaVega (formerly LexLoveLos) is the couple's YouTube channel. Career

In 1996, Vega appeared as young Jo Harding in Twister. Ellen MacDowell appeared in countless television shows and films, including ER, Follow the Stars Home, Ghost Whisperer, and The Bernie Mac Show. She became well-known in 2001 as "Carmen Cortez" in Spy Kids. Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over were two sequels, the first Spy Kids film was a huge success, and two sequels, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over were shot. She made the majority of her own stunts during the filming of the three films. In 2011, Vega appeared in Spy Kids: All the Time in the World as a mature Carmen Cortez.

In the July 2003 issue of Vanity Fair, she was named one of the year's hottest teen stars. Vega completed shooting two films in 2004: Sleepover and State's Evidence. As a victim of cyberbullying, she appeared in the Lifetime television film Odd Girl Output the next year. She appeared in another made-for-TV film, Walkout, in 2006, and completed filming Remember the Daze, which was released in limited theaters in April 2007.

Vega appeared on the 21st season of Dancing with the Stars in the fall of 2015. Carlos PenaVega's husband also played in that season; he and his partner were disqualified in Week 11. Vega was paired with professional dancer Mark Ballas. Vega and Ballas were disqualified in Week 9 and finished the competition in 6th place on November 9.

Vega and her husband Carlos PenaVega appeared in Picture Perfect Mysteries: Newlywed and Dead, and the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries sequel "Dead over Diamonds" appeared in 2020.
