Alessandro André Schöpf (German pronunciation: [alesando]; born 7 February 1994) is an Austrian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Austria's national team.
Club career
Schöpf joined Bayern Munich in 2009 and spent three years in the junior team before being promoted to the reserve squad in 2012. He made his debut on the 2012–13 season with Augsburg II in a 1–1 draw, and the Bayern II team finished in second place in the Regionalliga Bayern standings. He had eleven goals this season, making him the team's top scorer, behind Marius Duhnke with fourteen. Bayern II triumphed the Regionalliga Bayern championship last season, but missed out on promotion after losing on away goals in a playoff against SC Fortuna Köln. Schöpf made 34 appearances, this time scoring 11 goals. Schöpf and teammate Julian Green were granted a first-team contract in November 2013, but he made no appearances during the 2013–14 season as Bayern went on to win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
Schöpf bought a 2 in July 2014. Bundesliga 1. FC Nürnberg was one of six new players to make their club debut on the 2014–15 season, defeating Erzgebirge Aue 1–0.
Schöpf moved to Schalke 04 and signed a contract until 2019. Despite suffering a catastrophic knee injury, Schalke boss Domenico Tedesco impressed enough to get a contract extension until 2021, being lauded by Tedesco as "Almost a complete player." Schöpf joined Bundesliga club Arminia Bielefeld on July 1921 after starting a two-year contract. At the end of the 2021–22 season, he left Arminia as it was relegated from Bundesliga.

International career
Schöpf has represented Austria at the under-16, under-18, under-19, and under-21 levels.
Schöpf made his senior debut for Austria on March 27, 2016, when he was 87th-minute replacement in a friendly against Albania. He was chosen for UEFA Euro 2016, scoring his first goal against Malta on May 31. He scored Austria's only goal of the tournament, equalizing against Iceland after finishing last in last place with just a single point.
