Adnan Sami Life

Adnan Sami Khan (born 15 August 1971) is an Indian singer, guitarist, song arranger, pianist, and actor.

He appears in Indian and Western music, as well as in Hindi films.

The piano is his most popular instrument.

He has been dubbed "the first performer to have performed the santoor & Indian classical music on the piano."

According to a study published in the US-based Keyboard magazine, he was the fastest keyboard player in the world and named him the nineties' keyboard discovery, and he was born in London to Arshad Sami Khan, a Pakistani Air force vet and diplomat of Pashtun origins and Naureen, who was originally from Jammu and Kashmir state.

He has been described as the "Sultan of Music" by the Times of India.

Early life and education

Sami was born in London, England, on August 15, 1971. He was born and educated in the United Kingdom. Arshad Sami Khan, his father, was a Pakistani Pashtun, but his mother, Naureen Khan, was an Indian from Jammu. Adnan's father served as a Pakistan Air Force pilot before retiring as a senior bureaucrat and serving as Pakistan's ambassador to 14 countries. General Ahmed Jan, Afghanistan's paternal great-grandfather, was a military advisor to king Abdur Rahman Khan. Agha Mehfooz Jan, the King's first cousin, served as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in four Afghan provinces under King Amanullah Khan's reign. Habibullah Kalakani assassinated Agha Mehfooz Jan, and therefore Sami's father and his extended family immigrated to Peshawar, then British India.

Sami attended Rugby School in Rugby, West Midlands, United Kingdom. Adnan obtained a law degree (LLB) from King's College London, following his bachelor's degree (LLB). He went on to become a barrister from Lincoln's Inn, England.

He had played the piano since the age of five and wrote his first piece of music when he was nine years old. When visiting India during his school holidays, Sami started taking lessons in Indian classical music from the santoor maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. Asha Bhosle, an Indian singer, saw him at age ten at a R. D. Burman concert in London and encouraged him to pursue music as a career. He is a gifted concert pianist, music arranger, and singer with a command of Indian and Western classical/semi-classical music, jazz, rock, and pop music. Adnan, a teen on piano on a television program in Stockholm, was dubbed the world's fastest man on keyboard and the nineties' keyboard discovery. Sami continued to study Indian classical music from Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, India's highest-end maestro. Sami was encouraged to write a song for famine-ravaged Ethiopia for which he received a special award from UNICEF at the age of sixteen.

Sami has received numerous international awards, including the Nigar Award, Bolan Academy Award, and Graduate Award in his 32 years. Adnan is the youngest recipient of the Naushad Music Award for Excellence in Music. Lata Mangeshkar and Music Maestro Khayam are among the recent recipients of the award. Sami was accepted as a member of the jury of the annual Music Festival Voice of Asia competition in Almaty, Kazakhstan, which takes place annually.

Personal life

Sami first married actress Zeba Bakhtiar in 1993, with whom he had a son named Azaan Sami Khan. They divorced after three years.

Sami has been living in India since March 2001 on a visitor's visa, which was extended from time to time.

Sami married Sabah Galadari, a Dubai-based Arab. This was his second marriage and Sabah's second marriage; she had a son from her previous marriage. A year and a half later, this marriage came to an end in divorce.

He weighed 230 kilograms (506 lb) in June 2006 and said that his doctor gave him just six months to live. He lost 167 kilograms (368 lb) in 16 months by diet and exercise.

Sabah married him in 2008 and started living with him, but the marriage lasted only for one year after which Sabah applied for divorce again.

In 2009, his father died of pancreatic cancer, which he described as the "biggest blow" of his life, despite being extremely close to his father.

Sami Khan, the daughter of a former diplomat and army general, married Roya Sami Khan on January 29, 2010. During her visit to Roya in India in 2010, she first met her and proposed to her after some time. He became a father to Medina Sami Khan's daughter on May 10, 2017.

When his Pakistani passport came to an end, he applied for Indian citizenship, but he naturalized as an Indian citizen. The Indian Home Ministry accepted his request for legal status as a citizen of India in late December 2015, as of 1 January 2016.
