Jason Matthew Rebello (born 29 March 1969) is a British pianist, songwriter, and record producer.

Personal life

He took a break from music to devote himself to Buddhist studies in his mid-20s. "I think this was because I was having a level of success that made me feel increasingly alienated," he later explained. George and Jacques are two of his sons.

Career

Rebello was born in Carshalton, Surrey, Canada. His father's family is from India. In Wandsworth, London, Rebello was raised Catholic. He was classically trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama from the age 19.

He appeared in the late 1980s as a jazz pianist influenced by Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner. He recorded three solo albums in his early 20s, beginning with his debut album A Clearer View (1990), which was produced by Wayne Shorter and resulted in his appearance on the front page of The Wire magazine. He has also worked with Jean Toussaint, Tommy Smith, and Branford Marsalis, as well as Artrageous! On BBC television, the program is on show.

Following Kenny Kirkland's death, Sting invited Rebello to join his band in 1998. For the next six years, he toured with Sting and released three albums. Jeff Beck's band then went on tour for six years and recorded three albums. Rebello, Des'ree, Mica Paris, Manu Katché, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel all worked with Sting (musician) and Beck.

Rebello said in May 2013 that after twelve years of touring as a session musician, he is now reestablishing himself as a solo artist, particularly in jazz. He released the album Anything But Look on Lyte Records on November 4, 2013. Will Downing, Omar, Joy Rose, Jacob Collier, Tim Garland, and Pino Palladino appear on the show.

Rebello teaches music at his alma mater, Guildhall School of Music and Bath Spa University. In addition, he composes music for the London-based production music library, Audio Network.
