Admiral P Career

Early life and career

Boardman was born in Lusaka, Zambia, to a Zambian mother and his Norwegian father Tom Boardman, and he grew up with the street culture and music of Zambia's less wealthy neighborhoods. Nyanja is his first language, and Norwegian and English are considered second languages by the author.

He attended a Shabba Ranks concert at the age of ten, which he cites as a major influence in his decision to become a reggae artist.

When he was 13 years old, his family moved to Oslo, Norway, because his father was terminally ill, and the family hoped that he would receive better healthcare in Norway. However, his father died shortly after the move was announced. He admitted that adapting to Norwegian culture and society was difficult in an episode of the TV2 musical reality show "Cover Me."

However, as he grew older, he met up with fellow reggae enthusiasts, Selecta "Lion" Daniel, and long-serving partner Nico D, and in 1999, the Reggae/Dance Hall alliance Jah Ark Manifestation was born. JAM appeared at many concerts in Oslo in the early 2000s, as well as numerous internationally recognised reggae groups such as The Wailers, Steel Pulse, and Wayne Wonder.
