Adam Chen (born 24 June 1976) is a Singaporean television and film actor.
Early life
Chen was educated at The Chinese High School and Hwa Chong Junior College. While a civil engineering undergraduate at the National University of Singapore, he did some modeling and joined Route to Glamour, a talent show organised by SPH MediaWorks. After graduating, he was given a job and joined MediaWorks.
Acting career
Chen spent time as a model for a number of print and television advertisements in Singapore before going into acting.
Chen appeared in the Chinese talent competition Route to Glamour, hosted by SPH MediaWorks' Channel U. He was then signed by SPH Mediaworks to be a celebrity for Channel U. He then appeared on SPH Mediaworks as an actor.
Chen had been with SPH Mediaworks for one year and then extended his contract for three years in 2004.
He earned himself a role in the Singapore-Hong Kong co-produced TV series Yummy Yummies in 2005 before going on to produce a TV series jointly produced by Singapore and other nations.
When SPH MediaWorks closed in 2005, he was transferred to MediaCorp, which SPH had merged with. Chen has also appeared in English language TV dramas produced by MediaCorp Channel 5.
Business career
Chen and his companions formed a merchandising firm in 2002.
Chen opened R Burger, a Japanese burger restaurant, in the town area in 2009. In 2013, the chain came to an end. He also owns Three Kings Kitchen, a duck and chicken rice stall with three locations.
Chen and his colleagues opened Park Cafe in Holland Village, Singapore, in 2013. At Metropolis of Star Vista, One-north, He opened a Japanese izakaya, Ikki Izakaya. Birders, Chen's yakitori restaurant, also has Birders, a yakitori restaurant.
He is also the owner of Five, which has four locations and also a bistro named Golden, which is located in The Projector's golden mile tower, as well as The Projector, which is also located in the arthouse cinema.
