Career
She made her professional debut with director Youssef Chahine in Alexandria, New York, where she appeared in "Young" as a teenager when she was just sixteen years old. Many commentators agree that having a movie starring legendary Youssef Chahine on her resume is a privilege and that should include other respectable films to follow.
Yosra, who appeared in "Stolen Kisses" and "Bel-Alwan el-Tabe'eya" with her young co-stars, believes that her generation is full of youthful cinematic potential, which will continue to expand a new generation of Egyptian cinema. She said that her generation is fed up with the same old plots and techniques; they don't want the tale of a girl meets a boy with the soundtrack in the background.
Yosra played the role of a girl who suffers from an inner struggle and is indecisive about choosing between the guy she loves and her religious convictions in "Bel-Alwan el-Tabeeya." Her character reflects the lives of a number of young women in our society who face tribulations from day to day for choosing the right path to take in their lives.
In 2009, she chronicled her time in independent films and appeared in 'Heliopolis' by young director Ahmad Abdalla, as well as Khaled Abol Naga, Hanan Motawie, and Hany Adel. The cast of 'Heliopolis' is back on set this year to premiere 'Microphone', a co-production between Mohamed Hefzy and Khaled Abo El Naga, which was named Best Arab Film at Cairo International Film Festival and the Tanit d'or at the Carthage Film Festival.
When she played Cherine, a patriotic TV presenter in which was the talk of the Arab Region in 2010, Yosra appeared in some minor roles on television and cinema. She appeared in the award-winning film "Microphone" by young director Ahmad Abdalla as well as the romantic comedy "Ezaet Hob" with Menna Shalabi, which was released in 2011. Yosra is starring 'Farida,' a young energetic woman who is the complete opposite of her conservative best friend Leila Shalabi, who is looking for love throughout the film.
