Yoo Jae-suk Career

Career

Yoo's television debut was on the KBS Comedian Festival (for college students), in 1991, where he performed a parody of a commercial with Choi Seung-gyung. It was also an early memorable moment for him to perform a cover of New Kids on the Block's "Step by Step." Live and Enjoy Together, a nine-year absence as a little known comedian, thanks to Choi Jin-sil's suggestion, he hosted the program Live and Enjoy Together in 2002. Kang Ho-dong, Lee Hwi-jae, and Kim Han-seok all rose to fame after he co-hosted The Crash of MCs with Kang Ho-dong, Lee Hwi-jae and Kim Han-seok.

Happy Together Friends, the talk show, was his first Grand Prize winner.

The show X-Man was later on promoted by Yoo as one of South Korea's most coveted and highest rated programs. During this period, Yoo became more popular, and several services began to call him "the country's MC." He went on to host various shows, including New X-Man, Old TV, and Haja!

Go!

(Let's Do It) for SBS, but these were soon cancelled due to poor ratings on Sunday evenings. However, X-Man has had success in international syndication, and Yoo has a following among Korean Wave fans.

Yoo was a member of the cast of the top-rated comedy variety show Infinite Challenge. Since 2005, he had been the program's founder and was one of the program's founding members.

Despite poor ratings at its premiere, the show went on to become one of Korea's most popular and influential variety shows. Infinite Challenge, nicknamed "the national variety show" in Korea, was the forerunner of several programs that followed a similar structure. The program has received the highest ratings for prime-time lineups for Saturday evenings since December 2nd, 2006.

During a 1-on-1 interview with fellow co-host Jeong Hyeong-don on a "Pause" special (S04E300) that aired on October 20, 2012, Yoo expressed his love for the show. "I think my life on television and variety shows will be tied to the Infinite Challenge's fate." When will we ever get to do another service like this? "No matter how hard you try, it's going to be impossible to do another show like this."

Come to Play with Kim Won-hee and Happi Together Season 3 is Yoo's third co-hosts. Happi Together, in particular, was one of Korea's longest running talk shows, and it has consistently received high ratings.

As part of SBS's Good Sunday lineup, Yoo became the main host of Family Outing. Lee Hyori, Yoon Jong-shin, Kim Su-ro, Lee Chun-hee, Kang Dae-sung, Park Ye-jin, and Kim Jong-kook have all worked together, as seen on the show's "family" (cast members). Family Outing became one of Korea's top-rated shows, consistently scoring the highest ratings for the Sunday mid-afternoon time slot, and it gained traction among Hallyu enthusiasts.

Since June 10, Yoo has hosted Running Man with Haha, sister Kim Jong-kook, Lee Ssang's Gary, and others (who left after episode 559 to focus on his acting career), Song Ji-hyo (who left early in episode 346 to continue with his recovery from an injury sustained during his stay), Yang Se-chan (who left after episode 346). Despite the fact that the program was off to a poor start in ratings, it has since become extremely popular and has maintained a large international fanbase to this day.

Articles were being published about how Yoo was in a crisis and beyond his prime until the conclusion of Yoo's biggest show in March 2018. Despite being top popularity charts, new shows of his like Labourhood on Hire and You Quiz on the Block, though having moderate success and receiving favourable feedback, weren't able to fill Infinite Challenge's shoes.

Hangout with Yoo was the eagerly awaited new venture for the power duo from Infinite Challenge. The key driving factors for Infinite Challenge's success were Kim Tae-ho and Yoo, the main host. Unfortunately, initial reactions to the show were not appropriate and ratings were plummeting, disappointing many Infinite Challenge followers.

After the initial disappointment a few episodes, the show started working on a new initiative. The aim of the project was to have Yoo learn to play a simple beat on a drum set. The sample was then expanded from musician to musician, in which each musician would provide their own accompaniment and end up with a complete song. With the start of the project, ratings and reviews for the show were getting a lot of attention.

With the show's second heyday, Yoo San-seul's debut as a rookie trot singer for another of the show's projects, the show became synonymous with its increasing success. Bbong For Yoo, Yoo's third-track trot album, was released on Yoo.

Yoo Project Sugar Man, a series of Yoo Kobe, appeared on televisions from 2015 to 2016, alongside Yoo Hee-yeol and Yoo Heeol. The program focuses on remaking hit songs from singers who have faded from the public eye. Yoo Heeol, Joy (Red Velvet), and Park Na-rae co-hosted the show for a second season in 2018. Yoo co-hosted the program in late 2019 with You Hee-yeol, Kim Eana, and Heize.

Both seasons of Netflix's variety show, Busted!, aired in 2018 and 2021.

Yoo appeared in Psy's hit single "Gangnam Style" in 2012. In the video, he reprises the retro disco dancing role he created for the mock-band "Sagging Snail" in Infinite Challenge's West Coast Highway Music Festival special, in which Psy appeared. Yoo became known around the world as the "yellow suit guy" after his appearance. In addition, he appeared in Psy's sequel, "Gentleman."

In 2015, Yoo joined JYP in the Infinite Challenge.

Yoo signed a long-serving agency for about five years on July 15, 2015.

Yoo worked with EXO on the SM Station single "Dancing King" in 2016, which was also a joint effort with Infinite Challenge. He appeared with them at the EXO Planet #3 - EXO'rDIUM concert in Bangkok.

Hangout With Yoo, Yoo partnered with Lee Hyo-ri and Rain in 2020 to create the summer project co-ed trio SSAK3. "Beach Again" and "Play That Summer" were two original songs, as well as one cover song, "In Summer." Yoo joined Lee Hyo-ri, Kim Jong-min, and Jung Jae-hyung on the "Refund Sisters" with Uhm Jung-min and Jae-hyung shortly after reaching number one in MBC Music Core, shortly after finishing as the top of the charts.

Yoo resigned from FNC Entertainment after his deal came to an end and became a free agent on July 6, 2021. Yoo had signed with Antenna on July 14th.

Yoo was diagnosed with COVID-1921 on December 13, 2021, cancelled all of his plans and is taking the appropriate steps in accordance with quarantine department regulations. Yoo recovered from the infection after completing home care for COVID-19, according to a health official.
