Personal life
Bleeth met her future husband, strip joint operator Paul Cerrito, in December 2000 when she voluntarily entered the Malibu-based Promises Rehabilitation Clinic to help her overcome a cocaine addiction. "They say you shouldn't enter a relationship in the first year of sobriety, particularly with someone on the program," Bleeth said later, but Paul and I immediately fell in love." They were married in Santa Barbara, California, on August 25, 2002, and now live in Los Angeles and Scottsdale, Arizona. Yasmine Bleeth and Paul Cerrito are not married.
Bleeth was the 1998 spokesperson for the Lee National Denim Day fund, which raises millions of dollars for breast cancer research and education. It was called the "Wear Jeans to Work" campaign on October 9, 1998. $5 million was raised on the one-day to assist Susan G. Komen for the Cure with Bleeth's help.
Bleeth contributed to the fund after she won on Celebrity Jeopardy! Breast cancer research is a priority. Bleeth, a Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation spokesperson, and Ford Motor Company corporate sponsor Carlos Carney put together the national Race for the Cure together.
Bleeth first attended the Promises Rehabilitation Clinic in Malibu to stop a cocaine use in December 2000. Bleeth was arrested in Romulus, Michigan, on September 12, 2001, after she and her future husband, Paul Cerrito, were driving her car off the highway into a median strip on Interstate 94. There were no other vehicles involved. Four syringes were found with an injectable form of cocaine in them, as well as a solitary plastic bag with cocaine residue on top. The next day, police searched her hotel room, where they uncovered more cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Bleeth pleaded guilty to possession less than 25 grams of cocaine and driving while impaired in November 2001. In January 2002, she was sentenced to two years of probation and 100 hours of community service. Jerry Sabbota, Bleeth's defender, said after sentencing that the actress was content with the plea deal, but that her criminal record would be cleared of any felonies if she fulfills the terms of her probation. "She'll have a traffic ticket on her record when all is said and done." She wasn't treated any better than anyone else, and she wasn't punished any worse," Sabbota said. Bleeth was receiving physical therapy from the founder of the Promises Rehabilitation Clinic, whom she had not seen before in 2000. Bleeth's probation was entirely fulfilled by the plea bargain, and her criminal history was established as a result of her arrest in January 2004. Bleeth wrote "Back From My Drugs Hell" in an issue of Glamour from April 2003 about her rocky road to recovery, her cocaine use, and her struggle to remain sober. Bleeth wrote that her cocaine use was so bad that she collapsed at a photo shoot for Glamour, and she went without sleep for five days at a time. "Consistently avoiding opioid use is now part of my life, and it will be forever."
