Jury awards $3billion to Vegas parents whose children suffered liver damage after drinking 'healthy' bottled water laced with rocket fuel

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 19, 2024
Jurors have just awarded over $3billion dollars to multiple Las Vegas families whose children went into liver failure after drinking the same brand of bottled water. The suit alleged that Real Water, a now bankrupt alkalized water company, sold merchandise that contained hydrazine, a toxin found in rocket fuel. The products led to the hospitalization of five children and three adults. Emeley Wren, one of the plaintiffs, said during her testimony that she had started buying the brand after seeing fellow health-conscious yogis drinking it, assuming it was safe. She had no idea that years later, she'd be cradling her two year old son as he was life flighted to Salt Lake City for liver failure.

The jury awarded another $100 million in punitive damages. The four other plaintiffs - Jazmin Schaffer (pictured below), Tina Hartshorn (pictured below), Miriam Brody (pictured top left), and Christina Sosa - were each awarded more than $1 million in compensatory damages.
