Rampaging ram-raiders who stole £650,000 from shops, train stations, post offices and petrol stations across Britain during a 19-month ATM spree have been jailed for nearly 30 years. The network of thugs, coordinated by Patrick Gilheaney, 34, John Smith, 32, and Tali Smith, 34, carried out heists at shops, train stations, post offices and petrol stations across the UK - some worth more than £100,000. A court heard the group used a stolen van and straps to rip the cash machines out of the ground before fleeing in stolen cars with false plates. During a spree of 17 robberies from March 2021 to October 2022, the gang often targeted ATMs inside buildings, smashing through doors with vehicles or forcing them open with power tools. Now ten defendants have been sentenced to a total of 29 years and eight months behind bars after admitting a range of offences at Leicester Crown Court, with Gilheaney and John Smith each receiving a jail term of seven and a half years.

An 18-year-old transgender man from South Carolina was killed after going on a date with a man with whom he had been in contact for less than a month. Jacob Williamson (left) was discovered dead on the side of the road. Joshua Newton, 25, and his partner Victoria Smith, 22, have all been arrested. Williamson had registered on the internet and had planned to speak face in person on June 30, but he never returned home.
