Véra Nabokov (born in 1902 – 7 April 1991) was the wife, editor, and translator of Russian writer Vladimir Nabokov, who was a source of inspiration for several of his writings.

Early life and immigration

Born Vera Yevseyevna Slonim, the second of three children born to Slava Borisovna (née Feigin) and Yevsevich Slonim. Yevsey, a lawyer, was also a winner in the tile and timber industries, among other things. The family migrated to Moscow, Odessa, Istanbul, and Sofia, where they joined the large Russian émigre population in Berlin, despite the tumultuousness of World War I and the Russian Revolution.
