Tyreek Hill Life

Tyreek Hill (born March 1, 1994) is an American football player for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL).

He attended Garden City Community College, Oklahoma State University, and the University of West Alabama.

Hill, primarily a return specialist, was drafted to wide receiver, but he later transitioned to wide receiver.

Following his rookie year, he was given the nickname "Cheetah" in reference to his speed.

Early life

Hill, a native of Douglas, Georgia, attended Coffee High School, where he placed in the 100 meters and 200 meters at the 2012 Georgia state meet.

Hill set a new season-best in the 100 m (10.19 s) and a personal record in the 200 meters (20.14 s) on May 26, 2012) at the 36th Golden South Classic in Orlando, Florida. Roy Martin's 1985 national high school record was only one hundredth of a second behind him in the 200 meters. Hill's record was the fastest time by a junior athlete in the 2012 season and the fastest by a junior athlete since Ramil Guliyev's 20.04 s in 2009. In the 2012 season, Abraham Hall was the second fastest by a junior, behind only Adam Gemili. In 2012, he was a "High School Athlete of the Year" for Track and Field News. In the 100-meter dash at the 2013 Hutchinson NJCCA Championships, Hill had a wind-assisted (+5.0 m/s) 9.98 s.

In 2012, Hill was selected for the USA Today All-American track and field selection.

Personal life

Hill was raised by his mother, Virginia Hill.

Hill and Crystal Espinal became engaged in September 2018.

According to police data from Stillwater, Hill was arrested on December 12, 2014, after she was arrested on suspicion of assault of his 20-year-old pregnant mother, Crystal Espinal. According to the police report, the two became involved in an altercation and threw her around "like a ragdoll," punched her in the chest, sat on her, and repeatedly punched her in the stomach, and choked her. Since being indicted, Oklahoma State suspended him from the football team.

Hill later pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation and was sentenced to three years of probation, an anger-management course, and a year-long batter's program, as well as a domestic-abuse report, which Espinal was advised about and said she was familiar with. Espinal gave birth to a boy shortly.

Hill was charged with battery after an incident in which his three-year-old son sustained a fractured arm in March 2019. As a result of an emergency investigation conducted by the Kansas Department of Children and Families, his son was put into foster care for a brief period of time. Attorney Steve Howe released a statement on April 24, saying that while his office suspected a homicide was not committed but that the evidence did not support them to arrest the perpetrator. The Kansas Department of Children and Families continued to investigate. Hill and Espinal's audio recording of the injury to their son was published the next day, which prompted an inquiry. Hill and his fiancée talk about their son's broken arm; she says they are afraid of him, but Hill responds, "You should be afraid of me too." As a result, the criminal probe into Hill was revived. The case against Hill was inactive on June 7, according to prosecutors. According to news, medical investigations revealed his son's arm was fractured by accident and in a way that indicated it was not ready for a fall. The complete unedited audio from the recording was released on July 9, 2019. Hill accuses Espinal of lying about the domestic violence allegations in 2014 and about Hill breaking their son's arm. The NFL said they had always had the complete recording of the game. Hill would not be suspended and that there were no signs that Hill breached the personal conduct policy, according to a statement from the NFL on July 19, 2019, but if new evidence arises, the case will be revisited.

Tyreek Hill Career

College career

Hill played track and football at Garden City Community College. Hill was a sophomore in 2013 and had 659 passing yards and five touchdowns while throwing 67 passes for 532 yards for the Broncbusters football team.

Hill, who grew up in Garden City Community College, was a highly sought-after junior college recruit and opted to attend Oklahoma State University.

Hill made his Cowboys debut on August 30, 2014, when he passed for 62 yards in a loss to the Florida State Seminoles. He scored his first touchdown against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on September 25, 2014, and ended the game with three receptions for 50 yards, six running attempts for 39-yards, and three kick returns for a total of 62 yards. Hill finished with a season-high 148 kick-return yards on five attempts, his first kick-return yard of the season. He recorded 102 rushing yards on 18 attempts on 11 attempts against the Kansas State Wildcats on November 1, 2014, his first rushing touchdown of the season.

After returning a punt for a 92-yard touchdown, he played in his last game as a member of Oklahoma State's football team on December 6, 2014 and aided them in their comeback victory over their neighbor Oklahoma Sooners.

Hill was suspended from Oklahoma State's football and track teams following his domestic violence detention a few days before on December 11, 2014. Hill had 102 rushing yards and one touchdown, 31 kick returns for 381 return yards and two touchdowns, and two touchdowns, as well as 27 punt returns for 256 punt return yards and a touchdown in his first season at Oklahoma State. He made 1,811 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns as a running back, wide receiver, and returner. His 996 combined return yards ranked second in the country. He was ranked 11th nationally in all-purpose yards.

Hill enrolled and will play football for the University of West Alabama on September 1, 2015, according to the University of West Alabama. Since reading the police report about how he choked and struck his mother, West Alabama head coach Brett Gilliland has said he turned against Hill. However, after getting to know Hill personally, he spoke to people at Oklahoma State, Hill's former coaches at Garden City Community College, and a high school mentor. He was also swayed by a clause in the plea agreement that allowed Hill to attend full-time or be employed.

Hill was used as a running back (25 receptions for 447 yards and a touchdown), wide receiver (47 receptions for 444 yards and a touchdown), punt returner (20 yards with two touchdowns), and kick returner (20 returners averaging 23.0 yards with two touchdowns). He never exceeded 100 yards passing or receiving in his 11 games with the team, and had 135 all-purpose yards until his game-day victory over Delta State in Game 8. His work peaked off against the North Alabama Lions in a season-ending 3.3 all-purpose yards.

Professional career

Hill was expected to be undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft, mainly due to his domestic violence arrest. Despite being unable to attend the NFL Combine, Hill was able to display his talents at West Alabama's Pro Day. Scouts were mostly impressed with his speed, and they were praised for their fitness. Regardless of his conditioning, several clubs had completely dropped Hill from their draft boards, but West Alabama's head coach said at least 20 teams were still interested in him.

In the fifth round (165th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Hill. He was the first player from West Alabama to be drafted since 1974, when Ken Hutcherson was drafted 97th overall by the Dallas Cowboys. Fans of the pick were outraged about the Chiefs' selection, as well as domestic violence, and former linebacker Jovan Belcher's history. Before deciding on the defendants that charged him, General Manager John Dorsey had to get permission from Chiefs' owner Clark Hunt to make the selection, according to the Chiefs' president. During the first day of rookie minicamp, the Chiefs' organized an impromptu press conference and briefed the public.

The Chiefs agreed to a four-year, $2.58 million deal, which included $100,000 as a result of a signing bonus of $70,000, on May 17, 2016.

Hill was the Chiefs' starting punt returner, kick returner, and their fourth wide receiver on their depth chart, behind veterans Jeremy Maclin, Chris Conley, and Albert Wilson, beginning the 2016 season. As the Chiefs came back from being down 21–3 to defeat the San Diego Chargers 33–27 in overtime, he made his first NFL catch for a nine-yard touchdown pass from Alex Smith in the Kansas City Chiefs' season-opener.

During a 30–14 road victory over the Indianapolis Colts, Hill caught five passes for a season-high 98 yards and a touchdown. He had a season-best ten catches for 89 yards two weeks earlier, assisting the Chiefs in defeating the Carolina Panthers from a 17–0 deficit and a 20-17 win.

Hill returned a kickoff for an 86-yard touchdown, ran for a three-yard touchdown, and finished with a three-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter with less than five seconds remaining. In 1965, Gale Sayers was the first player with a touchdown, rushing touchdown, and receiving a touchdown in a single game. He hit a maximum speed of 22.77 mph (36.4 km/h), the fastest a football player had ever hit during his return. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.

Hill punt against the Oakland Browns for 78 yards on a 36-yard touchdown reception on Thursday Night Football, leading to the Chiefs' victory 21-13 and their first place in the AFC West. For his work in Week 14, he was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Hill had a season-high six carries for 95 yards and scored a 70-yard touchdown in a 33-10 victory over the Broncos two weeks later. In a 37-27 victory over the Chargers, he caught five passes for 46 receiving yards, three routes for 15 yards, and a 95-yard punt return for a touchdown. For his work against the Chargers, he received his second AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award.

Hill's rookie season saw him throw for 593 receiving yards and three touchdowns, 24 carries for 267 yards and three touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, 14 kick returns for 267 yards and a touchdown, and two touchdowns, as well as two touchdowns. His punt return yards, touchdowns, and 15.2 yards per return average all rank first in the NFL. He appeared in all 16 games, got off to a good start, and had seven combined tackles. He was named as a return specialist in the 2017 Pro Bowl. Hill was named First-Team All-Pro on January 6, 2017 as a punt returner. For the 2016 season, he was selected to the NFL All-Rookie Team. Hill was ranked 36th by his peers on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017.

Hill, the defending Super Bowl champion, scored 133 yards on seven receptions, including a 75-yard touchdown on a touchdown, on the road in the season opener on Thursday Night Football against the New England Patriots, standing 152–27. He made an 82-yard punt return touchdown against the Houston Texans in Week 5 in Week 5. Hill threw his first interception of the Chiefs' season on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. Alex Smith's 56-yard touchdown pass from him in the next game against the Dallas Cowboys was atypical end-of-half play. The Chiefs lined up for a Hail Mary and Smith threw an underneath check-down pass to Hill, leaving him with ample space for him to maneuver to the end zone for his once-in-a-lifetime touchdown. Hill had 185 receiving yards on six receptions and two touchdowns, including a 79-yard touchdown, but the Chiefs lost by a score of 31–38. Hill was named as a return specialist in his second Pro Bowl on December 19, 2017.

For the second time in his NFL career, he scored three touchdowns in a single game. He had five passes for 90 yards and another touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the next game. Hill recorded three touchdowns on seven receptions for 142 yards against the New England Patriots in Week 6 43-39 road loss, after three less imposing games. Hill was defeated by the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10 for his third 100-yard receiving game, with seven receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns, as well as a 20-yard rush. Hill had been barred from service as a result of the ongoing child abuse probe, according to Chiefs general manager Brett Veach on April 26, 2019. The NFL announced on July 19 that he would not be suspended for the probe because the league believes he did not breach the personal conduct policy, which was not breached. Hill signed a three-year, $54 million contract extension on September 6, 2019.

Hill injured his shoulder against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the season's opener. He was admitted to the hospital as a precaution. Later in the day, it was revealed that he had a posteriorly devolving sternoclavicular joint and would "miss some time." Hill returned from injury against the Houston Texans during Week 6. In the 31–24 loss, he caught five passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Hill had 74 receiving yards, including a 57-yard touchdown in the Chiefs' next game against the Denver Broncos, and the Chiefs lost by a score of 30–6. He was fined $10,527 for flashing his signature peace sign while running for the touchdown in the previous game six days later. Hill had six passes for 140 yards and a touchdown in a narrow 26–23 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Week 9. This was Hill's first game of the season with at least 100 receiving yards.
