Boris Johnson, one of the new members of Parliament to pledge allegiance to King Charles despite Speaker concerns

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 21, 2022
Following Queen Elizabeth's death, Boris Johnson was one of the new batch of MPs to swear their allegiance to King Charles. For the first time since Her Majesty's state funeral, the former prime minister sat for a oath to the new monarch this morning. The ex-premier, who was holding the King James Bible, promised to be 'fait and show untokening allegiance' to Charles. Among Cabinet ministers who pledge themselves to the King, Welsh Minister Robert Buckland (top right) later took his oath twice, once in England and once in Welsh. Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Commons' Speaker, informed them that the function was being shot by television cameras ahead of the latest swearing-in of MPs. Some MPs, such as SNP#'s Steven Bonnar (bottom right), have courted controversy in recent years by crossing their fingers while swearing allegiance to the monarch.
