Early life
Garrn was born in Hamburg. Her father works for an oil company, and her mother is a businesswoman. Niklas (born 1990), her older brother, is also a model. Garrn was two years old when she was born in London and then moved to Athens, where she later attended Campion School (Athens). She and her family immigrated to Hamburg, Germany, at the age of 10. Garrn can play classical piano after taking lessons since age 6.
Garrn was 13 when she was first discovered in Freiburg, Germany, during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and later joined the New York firm Women Management.

Garrn debuted on the runway in New York at age 15 as an exclusive for the Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 2008 runway show. She went on to be included in the designer's ad campaign. She walked exclusively for Calvin Klein throughout the following season. During fashion week, she walked over 60 shows for renowned designers including Stella McCartney, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermès, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors, and others.
She has appeared in Vogue (Paris, Italy, Germany, Russia, China, Spain, Mexico, Korea, Korea, and the United States) Muse, Elle (France, Tokyo), This Magazine (US), Numéro (USA), Harper's Bazaar (China), N.C., and Vogue (USA) as the eighth ranked model of spring 2008.
