Tomá Klus (born May 15, 1986) is a Czech musician and singer from the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic.
Life and career
Klus was born in Trinec, the province where he spent the majority of his childhood. His parents were music enthusiasts, and he accompanied them to many concerts and music festivals. He was heavily influenced by musicians Karel Kryl, Karel Kryl, and in particular Jarom'r Nohavica, who has a major influence on Klus' music as a child.
Klus migrated to Prague, Czech Republic, at the age of 15, and he was a member of the 2002 European championship gold medal winning team. Nevertheless, he later became more interested in performance art and music.
He was the champion of the Czech Talent Zln competition in 2007. Cesta do záhu(d)by, his debut album, was released in 2008. The single "Do Nebe" was played on Czech Radio before the album was released. He also created soundtrack for the Czech film Anglické jahody ("English Strawberries").
He graduated in drama from the Academy of the Performing Arts (DAMU) in Prague in September 2012.
He released "Pánu bohu do oken" ("Into God's windows"), a song critical of Czech politics and Czech politicians' behavior in 2011. It was live at eskslav 2011., a major Czech music awards ceremony. On September 26, 2011, his album Racek was published. In the first week on sale, it debuted at number one on the Czech Album Sales Chart, and it was labeled Gold. At number one, the racek spent 23 weeks in non-consecutive weeks. It was the best-selling album of 2011 in the Czech Republic and was later awarded diamond.
On March 24, 2014, Tomá Klus' new album, Promnam, was released. It debuted at number one on the Czech Album Sales Chart, placing it at number one.
