Evers had promised to veto the bill since it was introduced by Republicans in the state legislature and posted a video of himself writing "not approved" on the bill on Tuesday, before receiving a round of applause from onlookers. On X, he wrote: "I just vetoed Republicans' anti-LGBTQ bill to prohibit trans and gender nonconforming children from participating in school sports teams that fit with their gender identity.'
