Early life
Segura was born in Cincinnati on April 16, 1979. Rosario "Charo" Segura, his mother, is a Peruvian immigrant. Thomas Nadeau Segura (1947–2021) was a descendent of Spanish, Cajun, and French-Canadian origins. Thomas Nadeau served as an officer in the Marine Corps and saw combat during the Vietnam War, and later served as a wealth manager and vice president at Merrill Lynch.
Tom grew up speaking Spanish and spent his summers in Lima, Peru. He graduated from Saint Edward's School in Vero Beach, Florida, and Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina. He overdosed on GHB and collapsed into a short coma at the age of 19.
He has two sisters.
Personal life
Segura is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and has lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mequon, Wisconsin; and Vero Beach, Florida.
Segura and his wife and two children all lived in Los Angeles, California. Cassius Marsh, a former NFL linebacker, bought the Seguras' house in 2020. They now live in Austin, Texas.
Career
After graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne University, Segura launched stand-up comedy straight away. Segura said on episode 568 of Your Mom's House that he was doing comedy in the evenings for the first few years while working full time. Segura has referred to interning at Kopelson Entertainment and then landing his first paid job as a logger, as well as producing transcripts of reality shows such as Extreme Makeover and My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss.
Segura has appeared at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The Comedy Festival, the Global Comedy Festival in Vancouver, and the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. On Last Comic Standing 2, Segura was also a regional finalist in San Francisco.
Segura and Pazsitzky have signed a television contract with CBS, which has given the show The Little Thing a pilot production commitment. Segura's fourth special for Netflix, Ball Hog, premiered on March 24, 2020, and a Spanish language special was scheduled for the fall of 2020, but not before the COVID-19 pandemic was introduced.
Segura and Pazsitzky created Your Mom's House in 2010, which they both host.
