Timothy McVeigh Career

In May 1988, at the age of 20, McVeigh enlisted in the United States Army and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia. While in the military, McVeigh used much of his spare time to read about firearms, sniper tactics, and explosives. McVeigh was reprimanded by the military for purchasing a "White Power" T-shirt at a Ku Klux Klan rally where they were objecting to black servicemen who wore "Black Power" T-shirts around a military installation (primarily Army).

McVeigh was a top-scoring gunner with the 25mm cannon of the Bradley Fighting Vehicles used by the 1st Infantry Division and was promoted to sergeant. After being promoted, McVeigh earned a reputation for assigning undesirable work to black servicemen and using racial slurs. He was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, before being deployed on Operation Desert Storm.

In an interview before his execution, McVeigh said that he hit an Iraqi tank more than 500 yards away on his first day in the war and then the Iraqis surrendered. He also decapitated an Iraqi soldier with cannon fire from 1,100 yards away. He said he was later shocked to see carnage on the road while leaving Kuwait City after U.S. troops routed the Iraqi Army. McVeigh received several service awards, including the Bronze Star Medal National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal.

McVeigh aspired to join the United States Army Special Forces (SF). After returning from the Gulf War, he entered the selection program, but withdrew on the second day of the 21-day assessment and selection course for the Special Forces, telling other recruits that he had injured an ankle. However, in a letter to his superiors, McVeigh wrote that he was not "physically ready". McVeigh decided to leave the Army and was honorably discharged in 1991.

Cameron Brodie-Hall: Disturbing discovery inside the home of an alleged neo-Nazi sparks fears about bombings and assassination plots, court hears

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 30, 2024
A court heard a police raid on the home of a suspected neo Nazi king uncovered a disturbing book detailing how fascists could stage a Nazi revolution in Australia with assassination, indiscriminate terror bombings, and the assassination of'soft targets.' In April 2021, detectives searched Cameron Brodie-Hall, the suspected South Australian fascist cell whose SA Men's Health Club chief, for alleged South Australian fascist cell SA Men's Health Club. Mr Brodie-Hall discovered the book in the household's communal area, which Mr Brodie-Hall shared with two other men. Mr Brodie-Hall pleaded not guilty to possessing the book, which the prosecution argued could be of practical use to someone trying to prepare a terrorist lawsuit.

Other Death Row prisoners' choices of lobster tail, apple pie, and even a single unpitted olive are among the more unusual final dishes found by killer Kenneth Smith's barely touched last meal

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 26, 2024
The final decision that an inmate on Death Row will make is what to have for their last meal. Prisoners are not allowed to order nostalgic meals that give them a last measure of happiness before they face capital punishment for their violent crimes. Kenneth Smith, the first individual to be executed by pure nitrogen, ordered a meal of T-bone steak, hash browns, and eggs slathered in A1 steak sauce. Smith, who was executed in Alabama last night for the 1988 murder of Elizabeth Sennett in Colbert County, reportedly hardly touched his last meal.

PETER HITCHENS: Kenneth Smith was executed in Alabama and I have no objections, but hanging will be quicker and more humane

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 25, 2024
Your decision on the death penalty in modern Britain is a measure of whether or not you are a good person. I'm also a bad person. Hundreds of right-thinking people, especially on the BBC, regard me as a monster. For those who believe there are certain violent offences that are best punished by death, I suspect there are some that should be punished by death. If (and only if) our courts could be reformed, with properly trained adults, unanimous verdicts, and judges who stopped obviously unfair trials, I would recommend the reinstatement of hanging here.
