Career
The International Academy of Design and Technology was founded in 1996. He was hired by the Canadian Opera Company to create costumes during that time, but it was before Leo Lengenstein's attention to detail trademark was widely recognized. Thien LE had studied various aspects of fashion design before graduating in 1998, but he only established his own label in 1999, which turned him into one of Canada's top designers. Le has also worked as a consultant with Bombardier, Miele, Cashmere, Virgin Mobile, Lancome, and Elizabeth Arden over the past decade.
Thien's work has many influences, and in some cases it could be the most influential from Le's "The Elegant Period" of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, as well as the long gowns full of color and movement that remain his company's signature, tailoring various elements together with details that reaffirm his trademark. The 2002 "A Victorian Captive In Modern Age" collection, composed of black silk and satin, contained of black silk and satin and leather jackets, expressed indignation and admiration. Thien is often sought after for media projects and Fashion shows around Canada, and has also excelled at channeling his creativity into undertakings that are outside of his comfort zone, such as tailoring an entire wardrobe for Canadian band The Abrams Brothers' svelte kit for a specific video in which he had to do a lot of research in order to produce what the band wanted. The "Kimono Dragon" was one of his numerous outer ego collections and was shown to a select audience at the 4 Seasons Hotel in Toronto and later used to raise funds for an orphanage project in Vietnam.
