After a welfare officer was unable to answer a question at the front door of the house earlier this morning, a nighbours said police descended on the cul-de-sac. Kaur, who was dressed in a grey T-shirt and jogging bottoms, was able only to announce her name and date of birth.

According to West Midlands Police, Jaskirat Kaur, also known as Jasmine Kang, would appear in the Magistrates' Court later today charged with the murder of a child. Shay's body was discovered at an address in Robin Close in the corner of a cul-de-sac around 12.10 p.m. on Monday, and officers declared her dead on the scene. On Sunday evening, Shay had been seen playing with children in the cul-de-sac, just hours before police were alerted to the home.
