Taraneh Alidoosti (born 12 January 1984) is an Iranian actress.

She was named as the best Iranian movie actress of the decade in a survey conducted by 130 film critics by Sanate Cinema magazine.

She has been dubbed one of Iran's finest actresses.

A similar survey by the Film Monthly Magazine in 2012 rated her as the best actress of the decade.

Personal life

Hamid Alidoosti, Iran's national team's daughter, played for years and was the first Iranian to play for a foreign team (FSV Salmrohr, German2). (British Broadcasting Corporation). He then became a licensed football coach. Nadere Hakimelahi, Alidoosti's mother, is a sculptor and art tutor.

Taraneh got married and had a child named Hannah in 2013. On Fireworks on Wednesday (an Iranian New Year celebration), her only brother died young, in an accident.

Career

She began her acting career at the age of 17 with the lead role in I'm Taraneh, 15 (Rasul Sadr Ameli, 2002). Critics lauded her performance as a vivacious 15-year-old girl who after a failed marriage is determined to raise a child on her own, despite issues with poverty and social stigma. She received the Bronze Leopard for Best Actress from the Locarno International Film Festival in 2002, as well as the Grand Prix for Best Actress from the 20th Fajr Film Festival, making her the youngest person to do so. The Fajr Film Festival had her first three films shortly after she set another record by being nominated three times for the best actress award at the Fajr Film Festival. Since then, she has developed a steady but selective workflow in both theatre and cinema. She is best known for her choosy in accepting challenging, dramatic roles, as illustrated by her long association with Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi, making her one of the most renowned actresses of her generation. She has received many awards and accolades as a well-known actress in Iran.

Alidoosti appeared in three seasons of the hit Iranian television show Shahrzad.

Alidoosti has also translated books by Alice Munro and Nicole Krauss from English to Persian, and she is fluent in German and English.
