Takashi Inui (born 2 June 1988) is a Japanese footballer who competes for Spanish clubs Eibar and the Japan national football team as a winger or attacking midfielder.

Club career

Inui was the champion of the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament in 2006, winning the tournament for the fourth time.

Inui joined Yokohama F. Marinos of the J in 2007. Against Yokohama F.C., he made his debut as a professional in League Division 1. On March 10, the two teams will face each other in a league match. However, he struggled to find a regular spot in Marinos and was loaned to then J. Cerezo Osaka, a player from League Division 2, earned himself a permanent move at the end of the season.

Inui made the move to Europe in July 2011, joining Germany's VfL Bochum. He made his 2nd appearance in the competition. When he started in a 2–1 home loss to FC St. Pauli on August 13, 2011.

After an impressive result in the 2nd season, Inui agreed to three years with newly promoted Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2012. Bundesliga is a football team that plays for Germany.

Since agreeing to a three-year deal, Inui was transferred to La Liga's SD Eibar on August 26 for a then club record of € 300,000.000. He was the first Asian player to play for the club. Inui said, "It was always my dream to play in the Spanish league one day." Since I was a kid, it's been my dream, and now it has come true."

On September 23, 2015, Takashi made his Eibar debut by starting and giving one assist in a 2–2 draw against Levante. Eibar defeated RCD Espanyol 2–1 on January 10, 2016, scoring the first goal and also contributing to the second goal in the 15th minute of the game.

He was reportedly called back to his homeland by Japan's prime minister to serve as a delegate for King Felipe VI of Spain to Japan in April 2017. Inui was the first Japanese footballer to score against FC Barcelona on May 21, 2017, sniping the ball through the bars behind Ter Stegen twice.

Inui joined Real Betis on a free transfer for a three-year contract on June 1, 2018, after the expiration of his Eibar contract. In Betis' 3–0 loss to Levante, he made his debut on August 17th, emerging as a replacement for William Carvalho.

After being sparingly used, he moved to Deportivo Alavés on loan until the end of the season. In a 2–0 victory over Levante on January 11, he made his Alavés debut on January 11, 2019. In a 2–1 victory over Villarreal on March 2, he scored his first goal for Alavés.

Inui returned to Eibar on a three-year contract for a € 2 million fee on July 24.

Shimizu S-Pulse announced on July 22nd that they had signed Inui after his employment with Cerezo Osaka was ended, and they had signed him.

International career

Inui made his full international debut for Japan in a 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Yemen on January 20. He was selected in Japan's preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia in May 2018. Inui scored his first World Cup goal in a 2–2 draw over Senegal in their second group stage match of the tournament on June 24. Inui went on to score another goal and received an assist in the tournament.
