Takashi Amano Life

Amano was the founder of Nature Aquarium World (TFH Publications, 1994), a three-book collection of aquascaping and freshwater aquarium plants and fish. (TFH Publications, 1997) He has also published the book Aquarium Plant Paradise.

The "Amano shrimp" or "Yamato shrimp" is a species of freshwater shrimp that has been in the news for many years (Caridina multidentata; before Caridina japonica). Amano ordered a local distributor to special order several thousand of these plants after discovering that this species can eat large amounts of algae. They have since become a staple in the freshwater planted aquarium hobby.

Aqua Design Amano is also a brand that sells aquarium parts. (ADA) In monthly magazines in Practical Fishkeeping in the United Kingdom and Tropical Fish Hobbyist in the United States, "Nature Aquarium" was included in his article series. He died of pneumonia at the age of 61 in 2015.
