Suzana Ansar (born 14 February 1978) is an English singer, actress, and television presenter of Bangladeshi descent.
Early life
Ansar was born in London, England, to Bangladeshi expatriate parents. (Jenney) Syeda S Karim's mother, as well as her father, Mohamed Ansar Uddin, is a chartered accountant and businessman. She is the eldest of two children. Her mother was one of Bengali International's founding members. Syed Saadi Ansar, her younger brother, has a younger sister.
She grew up in Woodford Green, attended Ilford Ursuline High School, and then Forest School, Walthamstow. She then studied BSc Mathematics and Business Finance at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. She is a member of the Chartered Certified Accountant.
Ansar's grandparents are originally from Mymensingh, Brahmanbaria, and Chandpur, but they have settled in Dhaka. Dipu Moni, the current Bangladeshi foreign minister, is her aunt.
Personal life
Ansar married Yamin "Shagor" Chowdhury on August 1st, 2014. His father, Mukti Juddha, teacher and artist Mahmudur Rahman Benu (who appeared in Muktir Gaan directed by cousin Tareque Masood), is a tiger from the Mukti Juddha.
Music career
Ansar's parents encouraged her to participate in both her eastern and western cultures, so she took up harmonium, tanpura, sitar, and Bengali and Arabic lessons, as well as learning to play the piano. Ansar began singing at the age of five. Gulab Mangal Chaudhary, Gulab Mangal Chaudhary, was her first music teacher, and she learned the harmonium. She moved to Bangladesh in 1988 and learned from Ustad Zakir Hossain and several other teachers. She began learning classical music at Pandit Haridas Ganguly in 1989, when she was 11 years old and embarked on tanpura. She began studying classical music at the age of 11. Ansar began singing in Indian classical music from the age of ten to ten, from Uchango Sangeet, Khyal, Nazrul Geeti, Hindi, Bengali folk, and fusion. Ansar began teaching and now has her own music academy, "Suzana Ansar Music School," where she teaches young British Bengali children from the age of 15 to 16. On a Channel S program called Suzana and Kids, the school was featured.
In the book A Tale of Three Generations, a case study was published about Ansar in 2006. Ansar has worked with State of Bengal on the album "Burn Your Toes" from his 1999 album Visual Audio and the track "Sukno Patar" from his 2007 album Skip-IJ. She has also collaborated with Clottaire K. In November 2009, Ansar's solo debut album Suzana Ansar with Khansar was released by Bangladeshi record label G-Series/Agniveena, starring herself, her brother Syed Shahdin Ansar (Saadi), tabla player Yamin Chowdhury (Shagor), and Imran Khan.
