Nilufar Begum, born Hena Bhattacharya, was a Bangladeshi actress best known by her stage name Sumita Devi.

Personal life and death
Devi's first marriage to Amulya Lahiri was brief. Zahir Raihan, a British filmmaker, married her sister in 1962. On marriage, she converted to Islam and gave the name Nilufar Begum. Anal and Bipul were Raihan's two sons. She had a son and a daughter. The government allotted an abandoned house in Mohammadpur Thana to Devi after Raihan's disappearance in 1972.
Devi died of brain haemorrhage at Bangladesh Medical Hospital in Dhaka on January 6, 2004. Both her kidneys and liver had been acting before she was admitted to the hospital. Since her chemotherapy began, she had been in a coma.
Early life and career
Devi was born in Manikganj District in the then Bengal Presidency. She and her parents migrated from Dhaka in 1944 to Calcutta in 1951. In the film Asiya (1960), she debuted her acting. She was the first actress of then-East Pakistan to appear in the film Dhupchhaya, which was shot in West Pakistan. She made five films in the aftermath.
