Life and career
Krueger was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, and grew up in Sarasota, Florida. In an episode of The CW's 90210, he made his acting debut shortly after moving to Los Angeles in late 2009. He made a number of guest appearances and recurring appearances on television shows including Pretty Little Liars, Workaholics, Parenthood, and Two and a Half Men over the next few years.
Krueger appeared on The Originals, The CW's spinoff of hit show The Vampire Diaries, in 2013. Josh was the first gay character on the show and was originally scheduled to appear in three episodes, but after that, he became a fan favorite and Krueger was named one of television's Top Scene Stealers of the year by E! News from the New York Times. He was promoted to a regular role on television and remained an integral part of the show through its final season in 2018.
Krueger has been working on a number of television shows since the conclusion of The Originals. In November 2019, it was revealed that he was joining the cast of the Showtime pilot Yellowjackets, directed by Karyn Kusama, as a series regular. After surviving a plane crash 25 years ago, Krueger plays Ben Scott, the assistant coach of the high school girls' soccer team who is stranded in the mountains. In November 2021, the Yellowjackets debuted. Krueger appeared on a recurring basis as Heath on the third season of Roswell, New Mexico, in 2021.
