Stanley Joseph Lynch (born May 21, 1955) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer.
He was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' original drummer before his departure in 1994.
Early years
Lynch was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, and in the 1960s, he moved to Gainesville, Florida. He began playing music as a small child. Lynch figured out how to make a living off music as a child growing up near Gainesville. "I had no opportunity as a child." I was a marginal student. I wasn't going to college. My parents didn't have money."
Lynch said, "I played guitar and piano, and I always thought I was going to be a guitarist." "The drums were a happy accident." I didn't necessarily believe that they would be my ticket out of the ghetto. Back then, choosing to be a musician wasn't like choosing a career but rather a complete lifestyle. "My father regarded me as if I were going to wear a skirt and dance in the circus."
Lynch was always involved in fights at school, so his teachers argued that the young ones would be able to break the strife with drums. His parents forced him to take lessons before buying him a kit, and he recalls with a chuckle, "They split right away as soon as I got my first set."
Personal life
Lynch was involved in a five-year friendship with actress Louise "Wish" Foley, whom he encountered while the rest of the band was on set shooting a Tom Petty song "Don't Come Around Here No More." In the film, Foley played the main blond haired Alice. She was also in the video 'Make It Better (Forget About Me)'
