Christopher John Millar (born 30 July 1955), also known as Rat Scabies, is a singer best known for his stint as the drummer for the English punk rock band the Damned.

Personal life

Millar lives in Brentford with his wife Viv and their three children, and is the central figure of the book Rat Scabies and The Holy Grail, written by former music journalist Christopher Dawes. "A road trip, a rich historical yarn, and a witness to the strangeness of a great many friendships" was released in May 2005.

Career

Millar was born in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. He played drums with Tor and London SS before forming the Damned with Brian James, Dave Valiant, and Capt. Sensible in 1976. He continued to perform with the band through various personnel changes until his departure in 1995 was due to a controversy over the release of the album Not of This Earth.

His solo work outside the Damned includes a cover version of Bob Dylan's "This Wheel's On Fire," which is attributed to "Rat & The Whale." Millar formed the Germans in 2003, with Peter Coyne and Kris Dollimore, both from the Godfathers, who were born in the United States. He has performed with Donovan, Nosferatu, ska artist Neville Staple (formerly of the Specials) and his band, Dave Catching (Eagles of Death Metal), Chris Goss, the Mutants, the Spammed, Urban Voodoo Machine, and Jane Horrocks. He has also worked as a producer, including with Flipron and Ebony Bones. In May 2018, he unveiled his solo album P.H.D. (Prison, Hospital, Debt)
