Rob Hirst Life

Robert George "Rob" Hirst (born 3 September 1955) is an Australian musician from Camden, New South Wales.

He is a founding member of the rock band Midnight Oil on drums, percussion, and backing vocals (sometimes lead vocals) from the 1970s until the band took a break in 2002.

In 2017, the band reformed as a unit.

Willie's Bar & Grill, Hirst's memoir, chronicling the tour's beginnings in 2001 shortly after the 11 September terrorist attacks.

Personal life

Hirst has three children. Leslie Holland, his husband, has two children. Gabriella Hirst, one of his children's siblings, is an artist. Jay O'Shea, who was born to a new woman and later adopted, has another daughter, Jay O'Shea. They reunited in 2010 and have since collaborated.

Australian rock legends Midnight Oil are set to star in a new film that looks back at their astonishing 45-year-long career. The two-hour documentary, called The Hardest Line will open the Sydney Film Festival in June, with a cinema release to follow later in the year. And the movie's creators have teased that the film will focusĀ as much on Midnight Oil's uncompromising views on politics as their music.
