In "Gladiator" Sequel, Paul Mescal is reportedly portrayed as the Leading Role

www.popsugar.co.uk, January 8, 2023
Paul Mescal is racking up roles. According to Deadline, the actor, who appeared in "Normal People," is reportedly in talks to appear in a sequel to Ridley Scott's "Gladiator." This news comes more than two decades since the original film's debut, which earned five awards at the 2001 Academy Awards, including best picture. The sequel is set to take place years after the events of the first film, which resulted in the honourable death of its hero Maximus (Russell Crowe). In the first film, Mescal would play Lucius, the son of Lucilla, who appears briefly as a young boy, played by Spencer Treat Clark. Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), Maximus's uncle and niece to the tragic Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), is the former lover of Maximus and sister to the sadistic Commodus.
