Early life and education
Edith Rosario Cisnero Cisneros was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on March 28, 1974, but she spent her childhood in Durán, Ecuador. "Charo" or "Charito" at home, but as the letter n at the beginning of either word was added or became more common, it developed into "Sharon" or "Charit" at the end of either of them. Bermeo began to call herself Sharon Bermeo but chose "Sharon la Hechicera" or "Sharon the Sorceress" in reference to her favorite TV show, Bewitched, instead.
Bermeo took an interest in music from a young age. She won an inter-school festival for her appearances of the songs Fox incaico and Los Andes at eight years old. She was also chosen to be a starting member of the C.S. The football team of Emelec Sports Club is among the best in the country.
Bermeo studied Communication Sciences at the University of Guayaquil's Faculty of Social Communication for five years, earning for herself by serving as a kindergarten assistant teacher or selling morocho.
Career
Bermeo imagined herself as La Hechicera during her undergraduate studies and wished for a music career as the character, but her mother discouraged it from doing so. However, Bermeo had saved enough money to record and debut her first album, Corazon Valiente (Fearless Heart), in 1998. She had been a member of Los Sorceras, an opera company before this, but had decided against going solo. Bermeo would be one of the pioneers of the technocumbia style and created its dress style, as well as other technician groups in Ecuador and abroad, trying with the high boots and short skirts that would be used by many other technocumbia groups.
Bermeo released the album Hechizo latino (Latin spell), which was recorded in Argentina and featuring the telenovela La Hechicera's themes. She founded Ragga Con La Hechicera (Raggae with The Sorceress), becoming Ecuador's first solo reggaeton musician, Leche y Chocolate in 2005, two years later. In 2010, she released Poco a poco (Piece by piece).
